I'm not sure where the last couple of weeks went, even with the Thanksgiving holiday thrown in there. Time flies, etc etc. I don't even know what it is that has made the time seem so busy, except that I've been finally reading the latest Wheel of Time book (excellent) and trying to get my house to look like a tornado didn't just go through. I spent all day doing laundry on Monday. It was truly ridiculous. Apparently, if I don't actually do it, it will not actually compel a magical laundry fairy to arrive and do it for me. Who knew!

I did do the Black Friday thing again last week. It's such a crazy, crazy thing to do, getting up at four in the morning to go fight with a thousand other people over a few passably good deals but... I have to admit that it's pretty fun. I'm not sure I would go by myself for love or money, but it's always my parents, aunt, uncle, and at least three or four cousins. It's also worth noting that we do this in my hometown, which is not a city. It is a small college town with a Walmart, a Lowe's and half a Sear's. (Just tools, appliances and electronics.) The crowds are bad but there has never been any hint of stampeding or anything like that. I mean, it's the south. We might shoot you but we're going to be polite about it. M can never go because he has to work, so for the last two years, he's brought Evelyn with him out to meet us before he leaves town for an hour and a half commute to his job, thus allowing her to sleep for an extra couple of hours and allowing me to shop during the worst of the rush without her. I didn't even buy all that much... a couple of presents for M. Oh, and a gift for Evie at Lowe's. I really shouldn't have but was unable to resist. Step 2 Real Projects Workshop. Thinking about saving it until her birthday though. I've already bought her more than she needs for Christmas. Santa is bringing a mountain of Fisher-Price Trio building sets. Kmart was good to me this summer...haha. (There was a coupon out for a while that combined with another coupon that pretty much brought the cost on these down ridiculously low, and she loves her blocks as it is, so we're expecting it to be a hit... which probably means she'll hate them, of course.

Also, we bought a new television, which has provided us with hours of entertainment and good old-fashioned cursing. See, our living room is like this. (That picture was taken before we even moved in, when we had just shoved books on the shelves to re-use the boxes... but it lets you see the concept and I can't be bothered to upload a new picture at the moment.) Is this room not screaming for a flat-screen television over that fireplace? We have been daydreaming about this since before we moved in. But... alas, the easy part was buying the thing. The hard part was INSTALLING it. It involved a lot of M crawling around in the attic and cutting open the drywall. The people who built our house and the people who have lived in our house previously.. they have all been very strange folk when it comes to their home projects. I guess this one is about the builders and not the previous owners, actually, but turns out, there were no support beams behind the drywall! Because why would you want to HANG anything on that wall anyway? Ugh. Then it turns out that the electricity on that wall (in the attic) only works if the garage light is on.It was just a giant mess, but most of it is better now and it does look really cool. Plus, the breakers are incredibly random. I'm talking, I flipped one and it turned off one outlet in the dining room, the outside lights and the refrigerator (but not the stove or microwave, which is on the same wall, and not the toaster, which is on the adjoining wall.) We can't even label the box because you never really know what gets turned off even when you do it.

And, I have been sitting here trying to finish that paragraph for the last half hour but I keep falling asleep instead. I think that's my cue to go to bed where I bleong. :)
