Sep. 10th, 2010 12:04 amI completely do not understand how kids know just what to do to push your buttons SO FAST. I mean, out of the blue, you are flaming mad and trying to figure out where oh where your sweet little child went. Then it passes and all is well but I just can't believe that such a tiny little person knows exactly what will and what will not push the wrong button. Or the right one. You know, you never really can tell what it is that they're trying to achieve.
Minor crisis involving someone being really mad at her mother for accidentally opening the wrong computer game aside, we're doing pretty well this week. She's been sort of... difficult since she turned three but I have some hopes that she's gradually getting better. And really, I can't complain too much because her difficult stage is a breeze compared to the difficultness of some other kids her age and that's not even to mention the ones with significant health or behavioral issues, etc etc etc, but geez, you sure do get tired of hearing it sometimes.
That was not what I was going to write about! I was going to be upbeat and positive and stuff. :)
I have a new hobby! Again! Although I am relieved to say that it is a very mild hobby, one that should not take up insane amounts of time or money, it generates lots of compliments and it encourages mommy-daughter bonding. What's not to love? Did you know that there are lots of little girl hair blogs floating around? Where they fix their daughter's hair in some outrageously complicated, cute, pretty, intricate and/or funky styles and then post pictures and instructions on their blogs? There is! And it's fun! Evie's hair is still pretty fine and short so I can't attempt some of them, and wouldn't want to attempt some of them.
Here are two of my favorites.. click through to see a couple more pictures, including one that makes the first one make sense.. I know you can't really see much of her actual hairstyle but she was just so darned cute that I couldn't resist it.

I told her to peek around and look down the hallway to get the back of her head. There were a few outtakes of this shot cause she had no clue what I was talking about. ;)

I love having a little girl. It's just like a walking, talking, laughing baby doll. Can't you tell that the last half of this post was written hours later, after her bedtime? ;) And, if you're wondering if she sits still for this... mostly, yes. She has gotten much more patient with me as she has discovered just how cute her hair can look. I have always done things to her hair when we were going out or something, but they were either ponytails or half ponytails, or occasionally, if I wanted to get fancy, french braids on both sides.
We have an incredibly long weekend ahead of us. For a couple of hours, we were going to ditch all responsibilities (Evie is going camping with my parents this weekend) and head off on a mini vacation. Alas, practicalilty intervened and we now have to stay here and start on the bathroom makeover. Our bathroom is the ugliest part of our house by FAR, so it's a great thing that we're doing it but a terrible amount of work. Looking forward to having it done, or rather, having Phase One done. Phase Two consists of bathtub replacement, and I'm definitely looking forward to that too, but it will be a while before we can get that done due to logistical issues. Namely, we have no truck. :) Should be fun in retrospect.. most of all, I'm looking forward to looking back on it. :)
