May. 28th, 2011 11:36 pmToday has been long. Not bad, but it has just felt like it's gone on for a long time. I thought we were in trouble this morning, when Evie continued her bratty behavior from the night before, but a serious lecture actually seemed to do the trick for once, and she turned the day around. Strangely, it seemed to resonate with her when I told her that we still had time to have a good weekend--it wasn't even 9:30 on a Saturday morning so she could still choose to have fun if she wanted, or she could choose to make us all miserable (in which case we would stay home all weekend and not do anything fun.) I really got the feeling she was in the mindset that she had to continue being mean because she'd invested too much time in it already. She's a bit... stubborn. Can't imagine where'd she get a behavior trait like that.
I went yard sale-ing all by myself today. It was lovely! Well, I like to go with M, or other grown-up persons, but it's a bit of a hassle with kids in car seats. I don't think I've ever gone by myself, more than stopping at the random sale here or there. I bought clothes, mostly, for the little monster, and then I sort of bought a bicycle and I really paid too much for it, but it was cute and.. I don't know. I hardly ever get to buy her something FUN. I am always telling her no, we can't buy that. Then we had to go buy training wheels this evening, which added half as much again to the price. It was still cheaper than buying it new, but... buyer's remorse, you know. My child, however, L-O-V-E-S it. She is annoyed with us for not buying her a helmet and knee pads, though. She HAS one, but it's at my mom's. It's a good thing she doesn't know about the roller skates that I almost bought her but didn't. I went back for them but was just in time to see a little girl toting them to the car. I was afraid she'd hurt herself... and she probably would have so it's just as well. M was glad that I missed out on them.
Anyone have a cashback rewards Discover card? There's a limited-time promotion right now to redeem $20 of your rewards for a $40 Shell gas gift card. Half off on gas! It's kind of tricky to get to--I never could find it in my normal redeeming location, but here's a direct link to the promotion page: http://www.discovercard.com/hot-deal/shell/. If you have any rewards to redeem, this is a good time, but do it fast because I expect it to end any time. I got three of them. :) If you're able to get it, let me know because then I will feel all warm and fuzzy. :) Oh, but by the way, in general? There's a redeem $40 to get a $40 "gift of membership" to Sam's Club with a bonus $10 gift card available. Those come as just two gift cards, one for $40 and one for $10, and Sam's cards can be used at Walmart. Sooo... 20% off at Walmart. It's the best value that I've found so far, other than this Shell thing. I ordered one to test it..used it today without a problem. The card even says that it can be used for merchandise on the back--you don't have to buy a membership with it.
The kiddo likes to make sure she gets us up at a decent time on the weekends, so off to bed with me. :)
