I meant to post last night--M mentioned it at least four times--but I accidentally fell asleep on the couch after he went back upstairs. I woke up feeling really weird, so I decided that staying asleep until morning would be my best choice. I still feel kind of weird.. a little dizzy, headachey, and a little unable to focus quickly, but I'm hoping (how screwy is this?) that it's the prelude to a migraine. Better than inner-ear infection or something disgusting like that.

Anyway, what I was going to post about was our super-productive day. We arrived home at 3:45 yesterday afternoon, and in that time, we had accomplished more stuff than we usually do in a week.

- Arranged for written permission to install the dish. The office was open at eight, but the woman who signs those wasn't in yet and possibly wasn't coming in at all, so it was a little disturbing there for a minute, but after several back-and-forths, it worked out brilliantly, with the technician stopping by at the rental office on his way into town (on his way) and picking up the form there before coming to the house.

-DIRECTV installed. We have FoodTV again! Yes, this is a large part of the reason we made the switch. No, I'm not all that embarrassed about it. But why did it not surprise me that [livejournal.com profile] carrieb posted about FoodTV last night when it was a large part of the post I was planning on writing? We're actually the same person, don't you know?

-Harassed doctor's office until they finally (fifteen minutes before they closed) called me back with the information I needed. When I called the last time and was told they might not be able to call until Monday, I hung up the phone and screamed at the device in my hands, thereby freaking M the heck out, prompting him to run halfway up the stairs before I surfaced in the doorway to tell him that everything was okay except my sanity. He was very confused over my reaction to a two-day delay, but it just really annoyed me for some reason.

-Got the brakes fixed on M's car. Picked up the car. Returned to the house to pick up a couple of things we had forgotten.

-Went to the bank to cash two checks, one of which was for 84 cents. I was in a habit of overpaying our long-distance bill when we lived in Morehead because we rarely used it and I felt like an idiot writing a check for 16 cents and then putting a 37 cent stamp on it, and it would prevent me from receiving a bill for a month or two. However, the last time we ended up moving, and so they had 84 cents belonging to us. M was doing all the calling around and cancelling, and I tried to get him to call and request this 84 cents, but he refused. It was more about being contrary, of course, because obviously, it's not really worth calling about, but it became a bit of a running joke. I guess they did their accounting recently, though, and sent on the check out of the blue, so I got my 84 cents after all. Yay! (This was not profitable in the long-run, because M saw a car in the lot behind the bank that he wants to buy. This 84 cents might end up costing a lot of money.)

-Ate lunch at Panera, which is where I ate on Friday with a bunch of people from work. M loves that place. I asked him on Friday if he would still love me if I went there without him, and he said he would have to think about it. Oddly enough, he picked out the table, and sat down at the table where I sat the day before with [livejournal.com profile] starrflowerr.

Then we went to WalMart, and became a commercial.

-Filled a prescription at the pharmacy.

-Got the oil changed in my car.

-M got his eyes checked, which is good because I've been worrying over it lately. He ended up with a prescription for glasses, although the doctor said that 95% of people with his vision don't bother getting them.

-Did all the grocery and general merchandise shopping while accomplishing the above goals.

So now it's Sunday and I'm thinking we're going to have a more relaxed sort of day, and perhaps just bump around the house instead (and watch FoodTV). I think we kind of deserve it after yesterday's super-productivity.

Have you had satellite/DirecTV before? I so want to ditch cable -- every year they raise the cost and no, I'm NOT getting additional services mostly because I refuse to upgrade to that horribly overpriced package "digital cable".

Anyhow, satellite looks like a reasonable option for us...

Nope, this is a first for us. We've had digital cable before. We got it in Morehead because I noticed that it would be five or ten dollars less per month to have the HBO package. (???) One of the main reasons we went ahead and switched was because we wanted to switch to DSL for the aforementioned reasons of our cable speeds sucking, and the prospective DSL provider (BellSouth) gives a discount if you subscribe to Directv, and we had also been talking about switching that service, so it just made sense to switch everything at once. Of course, when the installation was done and I talked to someone on the phone to verify the whole deal, they informed me that the rates I agreed to were going up two dollars a month starting next month, so that kind of annoyed me. It looks pretty neat so far.. though it annoys me to have to pay more per month to have two connected TVs.
