I have never understood it, either. I would loooove a tivo equivalent but it would require us to buy digital cable, too, AND it's not even available yet from our cable company, and I just don't watch enough to warrant it. I briefly journeyed down the "well, if we had it and I could tape what I wanted then I WOULD watch more" path but then I realized that might not be the best idea I'd ever had. ;)
