I am.. not having a good day.

But I don't want to talk about that! Let's talk about ice cream instead! I just finished a bowl of Breyer's vanilla, all smooshed up to the consistency of a spoonable milkshake, delivered to me by my boyfriend. It's funny how "husband" used to sound fake and pretentious, but now "boyfriend" is the one that sounds weird. He is a boy and he is my friend, so technically it still counts. Kinda. Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] carrieb thinks Breyer's ice cream is gross, and I was trying to figure out how that was possible. It's so yummy! I am apparently out of my Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream phase, as the last pint we bought ended up freezer-burnt before it sounded good. Other than that, I have very fond memories of Jamocha ice cream from Baskin Robbins. That was always my favorite, whenever my parents took us out for overpriced dairy treats. But then we stopped living in a town with Baskin Robbins, and I pined away. Or maybe I mostly forgot about it, whatever. Once upon a time, M and I drove to a small town called Paintsville, in some sequence of events that utterly escapes me now, because seriously, there ain't nothing there worth driving there for, and the only thing we did once there was go to Baskin Robbins, so why did we drive a couple hours out of our way for it? But I had Jamocha ice cream and it was almost completely worth the drive! Now it's kind of bugging me as to why we drove over there, though, that makes no sense at all. I don't really understand why I like coffee ice cream so much, though, since I really don't care much for coffee. I can drink it, if I have to, but I don't enjoy it.

(Actually, I am not having a very good week.)

Okay, enough about ice cream. What about hibiscus plants? The one we planted a few weeks ago has been flowering, and I gotta say that I'm not so impressed. The flowers are really pretty, but they are lasting less than a day. Is that normal? Is that caused by planting it when the buds were already there? Or is that just how they are? It's really not very attractive behavior in a plant. On the bright side, some weird lily-like sprouts that came up in early spring but never did anything are poised on the verge of blooming. We figured they were goners, so what a pleasant surprise! And even though I have kept myself indoors and away from gardening work for at least a month now, I seem to have gotten more poison ivy in a very awkward location. Get your minds out of the gutter, it's on my shoulder. On the back of my shoulder, near my armpit. I CAN'T BLOODY REACH IT. I have had a lot of shoulder pain this week in general, presumably because I napped in the car on the way back home Sunday, and it has coincidentally been itching all to hell. Great. And what I want to know is.. how the heck did I get it back there and nowhere else?

But at least tomorrow is Friday.

I thought Breyer's was supposed to be really good, but I've had it twice and it is just the wrong consistancy. I much prefer Edy's. Even their slow-churned is good (not sugar free though. I don't eat sugar-free anything). Hey, did we ever actually go to the DQ in Beckley? I don't think we did but we intended to? But my memory is really bad. I know Mike and I went to the DQ on the way home, but that is all the ice cream I can remember.

I was so excited a couple of weeks ago when they opened up a Baskin Robbins in our little 'burb and I got my hopes up for a marshmallow cream sundae and they were out of marshmallow cream. The bastards.

I always thought boyfriend sounded like a weird word. I prefer to call Mike my man.

Sorry.. that's just how they are. Once they get big enough, though, they always have a few blooms.

I love your passion for ice-cream. But we need to talk about consistency. I needs to be HARD. COLD. VERY HARD.

Me, I only eat vanilla *proud grin*

Getting out of your B&J Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough phase is A Good Thing. As you know, I speak from experience. That was one hard habit to break and it's best not go back. Keep on keeping on. Now, for coffee ice cream goodness, the best I have had is Starbuck's Mud Pie. Damn, that's good ice cream!

Oh yeah, and you can also get ringworm from the soil, as well as cats (notorious carriers of the fungus), basically any pets or anyone who has it or has been in contact with it (ie: scratched one of their spots cos it itched, touched something, then you touched it and then scratched yourself or touched your face or whatever and voila you have it). I figure mine either came from the vet office (since I had to take the cat to the vet several times from January-March) or from the soil, since it was springtime and I was doing yard stuff a lot.
