The LiveJournal meme, yanked from [livejournal.com profile] helloheather and [livejournal.com profile] carrieb

1. Your LiveJournal user name and what it means:
I gotta say, if you can't tell what my user name is by the name on the post, there's something wrong. same_sky, note the underscore. Under the Same Sky is a room that M wrote for us on the mud before we were even a real couple.. he suggested it as a lj name because "Kisha" and "Kadi" were taken and I couldn't think of anything else. I probably would have chosen something else if I were to create my LJ today.. not that I don't like it, but I think it confuses people.

2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your LiveJournal represent who you actually are?
9. In some ways, I am much more myself here/online than I am in real life, but some things don't translate.

3. How much about your life do you post to LJ?
I write about most anything I think about, as long as it passes a filter in my head. It used to be, "would I be devestated if my parents read this?" Now it's "would I mind dreadfully if someone at work reads this?" (If I work with you but know you read it, it doesn't count.) Since I rather feel like I'm being who I actually am and not who I am forced to be while interacting with people, a lot gets past that filter that wouldn't get past the real-life at-work filter. If you figure out how to google your way here and then don't have the courtesy to tell me you're reading, then I'm not going to worry too much about you finding out what I think about whatever. And yes, that passed the filter--but I probably wouldn't come right out and say that to someone in real life. Ahh, LJ--the last refuge of honesty.

4. Is there anything you refuse to post about?
I don't post about sex or work. I also won't write anything relating to M that he wouldn't want me to, and I try not to steal his news to tell before he gets a chance. That's kind of hard when you're married, though. I also try not to post about dreams because I find them boring. I don't even read them in books.

5. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?
Do I have to answer this? I would say about a 4, but people are nice enough to pretend otherwise. I think I might be interesting mainly if you know me.

6. Has anyone ever joined LJ because of you?
[livejournal.com profile] totte and [livejournal.com profile] stewlis were both nagged into journals. I also nagged [livejournal.com profile] tarynfogle until she caved in and got a journal of her own, but I'm not sure I was quite the straw that broke the camel's back there.. I just thought she Should Have One, for some reason.

7. What proportion of your posts are friends only?
Eh.. more than I'd like. 15%, maybe? I keep thinking I'm going to at least make my archives friends-only but it requires effort.

8. What are your top five favorite interests on LJ?
I'm with everyone else, this is a dumb question. I think I will tell instead which ones I occasionally even look at to see who else finds them interesting: tatting, abermuds, mosaic minds, morehead, knitting. LJ interests are pretty freaking worthless, if you ask me.

9. How often do you post in communities, and did you ever start your own?
I think I've posted in about two communities, and I have never felt the inclination to start my own.

10. How often do you respond to/comment on other people's journals?
Not as much as I used to, and not as much as I wish I did. If you're on my friends list, I read all your entries and think about commenting.. I just don't get around to it all that much. I wish I could get better about that.

11. Do you prefer to write in your journal or read other journals?
I would probably say read other journals, just because I tend to spend more time doing that. But I really do enjoy having a place where I can say whatever I want. Mostly.

12. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument on LJ?
I had a couple of negative comments after the post I wrote about the Toby Keith/Dixie Chicks debacle hit Google. There is one person who is not on my friends list but is friends with some of my friends who I think doesn't like me, and used to comment on my comments in other journals saying things that I construed as vaguely bitchy, but I never really understood why since I had never talked to her. And someone once jumped all over me for writing something about Internet Explorer sucking, and defriended me a short time afterwards. But that's all I can think of, so basically I think I've had a pretty easy time of it in LJ-land.

13. Have you ever banned someone from your journal?
Nope. I did make my Toby Keith entry friends-only so people would leave me alone. Look, he's a moron. Get over it.

14. Who are your four favorite LJ friend(s) and why?
This is impossible! It's a question designed to make people mad! No, I can't do it. I come up with a list and then say "but what bout this person?" or "what about that person?" I like you all. (To be truthful, [livejournal.com profile] totte is my most favoritest, but he plays with my hair and you don't.)

16. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?
Because they added me. There are plenty of people I'd like to add but I am a wuss and am afraid to initiate a friendsing because I'm afraid they will think I'm annoying. If they're married to Swedes or are Swedes married to Americans. If they post interesting things about their lives.

17. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?
Not automatically, but I usually do.. as long as they don't irritate me, post political things that I violently disagree with or post quizzes exclusively and never behind a cut.

18. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?
Overuse of the quiz. Quizzes are really boring to me.

19. Is your "significant other" on LJ?
Absolutely. [livejournal.com profile] totte. We're kind of a package deal.

20. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on LJ?
Yes! [livejournal.com profile] courtesy is high on that list, which I'm sure surprises none of you. And [livejournal.com profile] carrieb, but I've kind of already met her, being that we're essentially the same person. ;) I would like to meet quite a few of you, actually.. all of the "core group" as someone called it. You know who you are.

I thought I was the only person in the world who used two periods as an ellipsis.. it started as laziness but now is habit.. and I'll bet I start looking at everyone's writing now, to see if anyone else does it..

Yup, same person. Only I am bad and do write about work *l*. I don't think I would, though, if I actually had a normal job. Or else I would put it behind the cut or make a new totally anonymous journal.

I can't believe someone de-friended you over an IE comment. How stupid!

We really do need to meet sometime! How far away do you think we live from each other? If you guys ever want to visit us, you are more than welcome *l*. We need to plan something! Of course, it is hard now b/c of the baby issue. If we have a happy good little baby like my nephew it would be no problem to travel, really. If we have a crier I wouldn't want to inflict that pain on anyone. I guess we will know soon enough what we've got.
