Try Murphy's Oil Soap, full strength, for the odor. I find it works great, and it penetrates the wood so it stays for a while. It's strong, you might want to do it with windows open or a fan or outside or something, but it does work. Also, clumping cat litter works better than baking soda, and charcoal works well too for smells that linger. Don't ask how I know these things LOL! Moving around a lot has its quirks.
