more on the randomness
I am in serious productivity mode today. I have let a lot of stuff slide because I have been shopping all the freaking time and it has got to stop. I am seriously thinking about *gasp* going an entire week without stepping foot in a drugstore. Schocker! It's a good week to take a break, though I may go to Walgreens... not sure.
(So what are you doing posting, K? haha. I am also trying to post more, so I have therefore decided to consider this productivity. That probably will ensure that I never post again..ha.)
It may have helped that I actually went to bed when I said I was going last night, and I slept all night long, therefore getting more sleep last night than I have in I don't know how long. Here's hoping I can stay up after she goes to bed tonight, because cutting my amount of productivity time in half is not exactly going to help me get stuff done.
Right now, the munchkin is watching Alfons-----gaah. Just by beginning to point it out, I swear, she immediately got down and came over to me and said, "I can't like him." What the heck? I swear she is psychic sometimes. I was going to say that she was watching Swedish youtube videos on M's computer, therefore freeing me up to type this, but now she's leaning on my chair (I HATE it when she does that... the chair swivels and rolls, as it's a hardwood floor) trying to open my sealed outgoing mail. Ahh, well, it was good while it lasted.
I have lasagna in the crockpot. I have no idea how it will turn out but I'm really interested in the outcome. I've never made it, or anything else like it, in the slow cooker. I have my doubts as to how good it will be but it's pasta and cheese so how bad can it get? If the noodles get done, anyway. (Update: it was pretty good! I think it needed to cook a little less than 3.5 hours (recipe said 3-4) and if I'd used my real spaghetti sauce, it'd have been really good, but I cheated a bit. Awesome.)
Remember that E got her finger smashed in the baby gate back in June, and lost the nail a month later? Well, it had finally grown back out and was looking good and guess what she did today? She smashed it in my nightstand drawer. (Which, I HAVE TOLD HER NOT TO BE IN THAT DRAWER ANYWAY. Not to say that there's anything sensationally interesting in there--I mean, she won't stop taking things out of it so umm...yeah, anything fun is already long gone from there) but I still don't want her playing in there. I hope it doesn't fall off again. Poor baby. Of course, this situation could have been avoided if she had been minding her mother, now wouldn't it? Too bad that sort of logic is above her right now.
Okay, I had other things in mind to post about but my ever-present companion is getting restless so I shall have to write about them later. Time to play something with her. Oh! I taught her and her cousin (three months older) how to race on Saturday. It was AWESOME. I had them stand in the yard until I walked a short distance away, and said "GO!" and they would take off running and I would scoop them up and sometimes swing them around when they arrived and announce the winner. I'm not sure who had more fun, them or me. They were so cute. Half the time, one or more of them got messed up on the way to me in one way or another. They'd start before I said Go, or after, or run in a slightly off direction, or pass me. It was hilarious. If you have a couple of two-year-olds, you should definitely try it...hehe.
rofl. She went and got an extra mouse, took it over to her desk and said, "I wanna chat with my email thing." WTF? First of all, M nor I are really chatters, so I'm not sure where she even heard that word in that context. Second... huh?
Okay, time to go play before she makes any more messes. :)

1 jar Ragu
3/4 to 1 lb of ground beef
canned mushrooms (optional)
cottage cheese
mozzarella cheese
parmesan cheese
no-boil lasagna noodles
Put Ragu and beef in pot together, breaking up the beef until it's all separated. Cook until the meat is done. Add mushrooms if desired.
Mix sauce with some cottage cheese. I have never measured.. about eight ounces maybe? I like small curd for this but it doesn't matter. You can't taste the cottage cheese as such when you're done, but it makes it moist and delicious so don't leave it out. Break the noodles in half gently and start layering. I put sauce on the bottom and then noodles - sauce - mozarella cheese. Layer until you run out of noodles. Sprinkle parmesan on top (optional, really.)
Cook on low 3-4 hours. I cooked mine for 3.5 and it was possibly a little more done than it needed to be.
It tasted different from baking in the oven (this is pretty much how I do it for the oven too, but I use boiled noodles for that) but it was pretty good.
