Swedish book recommendations, Facebook confessions and routine ramblings

Which Swedish children's books does Evelyn need? :) She has several random ones (and more about Carl Linnaeus than any one child deserves...) and I am thinking she really could use more. She also has a couple of Tottes and an Emma (which are my personal favorite) and some of M's old books and.. I don't know, just a few different things. I am thinking of compiling a little list, mainly for in-law gift suggestions for Evelyn, and also for purchasing myself..theoretically. Very impractical to buy Swedish language books here in Kentucky but.. you know. I also want her to have some Swedishy clothing but apparently I need to find out how tall she is, according to people who seem to know more about how children's clothes are sold in Sweden than me. She wears between a 2T and 4T here, depending on the item.

Okay, I have a Facebook confession. I hide basically everything on my friends status page that is not posted by a person. I am hiding Farm Town and and Chug It and Fish World and Cafe World and Quiztacular and.. basically everything else auto-generated. I don't really care which Taylor Swift song someone is. I mean, nothing against people who do those quizzes or anything..just.. yawn. So anyway, I hide things, LOTS of things. Nothing personal. However, I have to confess that I felt a little awkward clicking on the "Hide Word of God" link the other day. It was just wrong. (Sorry about that, God.)

However, today, I rather enjoyed "Hide Your Chances of Catching the Swine Flu". Yes please!

I am having a really hard time getting back into an acceptable routine now that Evie isn't napping anymore. I mean, the days are fine but I don't get anything done anymore. I have a laptop in the living room, where we hang out most of the time, but I mainly just use it for browsing--all email and photos and documents are stored on my desktop computer, in the computer room, as are all of my papers and office supplies and printer, etc. We have a wireless network so I could do some stuff that I don't normally do, but I just prefer using this one. But... again with the not getting anything done. I need to figure out a way to have some time in this room when I want it. She's good in here sometimes, but only when she's in the mood for it and I still have to be prepared to stop what I'm doing and go drag her away from < insert dangerous or messy or breakable item here > AGAIN. Ugh. Anyway, it is driving me crazy. By the time she goes to bed, I'm tired and unmotivated so still things don't get done. Maybe if I can just get caught up a little more it will bother me less. I don't know. This isn't really something that I can get help on from anyone but me, but it'd be nice. I also tried to start sewing again, with her in the room, last week. HA! Yeah, that doesn't so much work. But assuming everyone is feeling okay this weekend, M is planning on taking Evelyn shopping with him for several hours in a row so maybe I can actually get caught up on a few things and not feel so crappy about it.

Oh, and yes, I did get some hot steamy werewolf sex in the book I mentioned last time. I know you were all worried about it.

Don't feel guilty. I hide all that crap, too :) (and apologize for Visual Bookshelf)

My kids love these books. There are four in the series so far, but the best is the first (the one in the link).

Also, the Jan Lööf alphabet book is good. His other books are sort of weird, I find, but the artwork is fantastic. (Olof doesn't think they're especially weird, so it may be a Swedish thing! :D)

I have bookmarked that link and will try to hint that it would be a good gift. :) Thanks!

We love Alfons, Laban, anything Astrid Lindgren (right now Karlsson pa Taket and Emil are faves), and a lot of "dictionary" picture type books in both languages. We also have all of the Pixar films in Swedish and English, though he is still a bit young for those. He also just got Bamse box set from farmor for his bday and has been obsessed with those the last few days.

We really like anything by Lena and Olof Landström (the Nisse books, Bu och Ba), and then some really old classics by Elsa Beskow.

I'd say it's definitely worth it to see how tall she is. There are some really cute things, especially for little girls. I always buy stuff when we go to Sweden and G's relatives send the kids some cute things too. And you know how I love Hanna Andersson which also sizes by cm.

Is Elsa Beskow the one who did the drawing of the E on the postcard you sent when Evie was born? It's hanging in her room, btw, on a ducky memo board. I just realized now that we have one Elsa Beskow book translated into English... I guess it was either M's parents or sister who bought it for her.

I keep going to tha HA site, over the years, and then going "OMG THEY WANT WHAT??? FOR THAT?!" and then closing it again. hehehe.

Thanks. :)
