This day has been sucktastic. I shouldn't bitch because of course, there are people with real problems, etc etc, but I was sick, and had slept badly due to a sore throat and Evelyn sleeping in our room (or rather, us sleeping in hers, to be fair) and I had a scratched left eye that bothered me all day, AND THEN EVIE POKED IT with two fingers on accident, which so did not help, and a double hangnail on my right thumb and a pulled muscle in my left thigh and an occasionally grumpy child and ... you know. Just, stuff. Evie and I had a fight this evening because one of us had a meltdown over being told not to use a wooden paint roller handle on the freshly painted walls (yeah, guess which one of us THAT was) and mainly, I have just been waiting for bedtime all day. Of course, now that I could go to bed, I don't want to, but still. I shall endeavor to be in a better mood in any case.

M is working on removing tape from the pink room. It is really pink. It's not AS pink as the first color we chose. Since we had to do a second coat anyway (that's what we get for trusting the teenaged boy at Walmart) we went a little lighter the second time around. I should be helping him but I think I'd rather.. well, not. I did work in there quite a bit today, removing tape and scrubbing pink paint off places that should not be pink. I have spent approximately one year of my lifetime sitting on the hardwood bedroom floors in this house, scrubbing paint off and/or cleaning baseboards. It's not that we're terrible painters, it's that the people who lived here before were really terrible at anything DIY and all those splatters that they got on other things, they left. It's not like we're the next HGTV personalities or anything, but we're better than those people. Flying monkeys are better than those people. Yesterday, though, I admit that we were pretty sloppy painters, but we made a conscious decision to do it when Evelyn could help, and that affected our outcome somewhat.

It's getting difficult to post pictures of her because she no longer wears clothes. I usually put clothes on her, but then she takes them off to go swimming. She is obsessed with going swimming in pretend pools. Last summer, real pools freaked her out so I don't know what this fixation is about but kids are weird and I think that's about all I can say about that.

This is apparently an unpopular sentiment, but I have to say it: distressed furniture? So rarely does anything for me. No, I'm sorry, I am not buying it that your TV stand is really a 200-year-old salvaged piece. It looks like you bought a TV stand and then beat the hell out of it. OH WAIT. THAT'S WHAT YOU DID.

And, I am officially out of things to say. And I'm thirsty, so I might as well go do something about that.

You manage to crack me up even when you have trying days and are in a foul mood - that's a great quality.

HAHahahaha!!! Furniture Attitude! Let 'em have it!

I am also laughing at "we're better than THOSE people," (emphasis mine, obviously.)

Honestly, I am also laughing at Evie poking you in the eye. Laughing at your TELLING of it, though. Not laughing at you getting poked in the eye. One time? Rob and I were having a pleasant moment together during college, um, in the dark? And I totally thumbed him directly in his open eyeball, really vigorously. Way to ruin a moment, Heather!

With friends like you, laughing at my eye distress, who needs enemies? *laugh* On the other hand, I am totally laughing at you thumbing poor Rob during your..special time.. and trying not to figure out what the heck you were trying to achieve. ;)

Actually, truth be told, I spent a few minutes with a cold rag pressed to it while the tears flowed and then it felt better than it had felt all day so maybe she DID help me. I don't recommend it as a method of treatment though.

I know! It is usually just not that pretty. It seems like everyone just loves it though.

Thanks! I think. :) I am more chipper today so I am probably not very amusing, sadly.

Evie was just trying to get with this home-decorating program... distressed furniture, distressed eyeballs... you're furniture aren't you? At least, a jungle-gym sometimes, right?

I was actually just trying to hug him in the dark. I wish it were more exciting in real life. :)

We're all entitled to be a little tired and sore and cranky sometimes - it happens. Hope your cheered up and are less owie now.

Speaking of NAKED, why is it that no matter what the temperature is indoors or out the babes must be NAKKID! Sophie came into our room this morning bouncing on the bed and ANNOUNCING her nakedness. She even wiggled her little rump in our general direction. lol... That'll be cute for about another three years, then it'll just be unsightly! lol
