Yeah. Ballet is expensive but not as bad here as other places, I'm betting. (There are some benefits to living in rural America.) It's about $60/month averaged out with all fees for the year. I am lucky in that this studio does not have a strict dance code for class, beyond that they're supposed to wear a leotard and leather slippers--color doesn't matter. I bought all but one of her leotards used for about $3 or $4 (she could wear the same one every week but I have real problems with buying too many clothes for her!) The shoes were $20 and for the sake of interest, I should add that I only paid $10 for the Reeboks she's wearing, and yet, you can't coupon your way through the ballet world. There's also only one recital held at the end of the year. The costume fee was $50 for the recital, charged in October for the performace in June. That's only one costume and much less than $300 but I have never spent $50 for one child outfit, ever. I'm not sure what they want us to do about shoes yet because hers are pretty worn by now... she really needs new ones for size, too, but I'm trying to squeak through. Ballet is a whole different world. But.. at the same time that I'm looking forward to being out of it... it's freaking adorable to see her practice her dance moves. ;)
