When we were in Sweden, I was sooo anxious about answering M's phone. (I was there for three months before he moved here and we got married.) I hated it because I knew I wouldn't be able to understand what they were saying. :) I guess eventually I would have gotten over it, when my svenska got a little better, but I think we would have had to get a caller id as well.. :)
