Why, oh why do they interrupt normal television programming for breaking news alerts when there is no breaking news?! "Attention, folks, we have some important news. We're still at war." Enough already!

I've been busy busy today, although it's beginning to feel like I haven't gotten anything done. I set up hosting accounts and DNS nameservers, which means that the site will soon be accessible and I can get started on the hard stuff. I also talked to a good friend (Abs) that I haven't talked to in a while. We do the idle-ICQ thing all the time. We're both online constantly, and since we always see each other, we never really talk. :) Stupid, that. He also has the distinction of being the only guy who can call me Princess and grab my ass without Magnus getting jealous.

I was going to explain that last remark, but decided it was funnier the way it is.

Anyway. the house looks like a tornado has gone through, so I've also been straightening things up here and there. This is not a fun thing, but if I don't do it before the weekend, it'll be easier to burn the place down than clean it up by Monday. I don't know why I said that, because fire is something else I'm paranoid about and now I'm going to be afraid I've jinxed myself. Yesterday morning, I was so convinced that someone had broken into the house that I was afraid to get out of the shower. I don't know why I thought being in the shower made me any less vulnerable to an attacker, because if they can get past a lock and chain, they could probably open the bathroom door, but there you have it. I'm crazy. Further adding to that, I'm also happy because our fish get excited when they see me in the mornings now. When being recognized as Mama by two overgrown fish makes you happy, maybe there's something you should explore in therapy, don't you think?

Being in the shower gives you the same protection as hiding under the covers of the bed. Total, 100% invulnerability from all monsters, boogie men and similar. I hate to rain on your parade, but the reason they get excited when they see you in the mornings lately probably has something to do with the fact that I've forgot to feed them a lot since I started at my new job. They might not be so much excited as they are starving. ;)

I know they get excited because they're hungry. That's the point. They associate me with food now instead of just you. Food is everything to them, therefore I am also everything to them. You made me all sad the other day when you pointed out that they don't get excited at anyone else. They didn't get excited when they saw me, either! :( So now I'm happy because they like me again! (They did like me when they were little. Like those monsters were ever little.)

This was one of the funniest entries I've read from anybody for quite awhile, thank you! :-)

Looking forward to your new site coming up -- I'd volunteer to help with the techie stuff (15+ years of programming experience here) but I've really got to find a job :(

Thank you! And thanks for the almost-offer-of-help.. it's the thought that counts. :) Hopefully it won't be too hard.. I'm supposed to be a web designer, how hard can it be? (Another one of those things that might bite me in the rear for saying out loud.) If you find a job, send one my way, would ya? *grin* :)

Fish have the intelligence to recognize people? I had no idea. I thought they just had a three second memory. Now I'm going to have nightmares about your giant fish jumping out of their tanks and touching me. I really need to get over my fish phobia.

I thought about posting a line warning you to stop reading. ;) We heard that they had a seven second memory, but have been kinda forced to take it back, since they do seem to get excited when we walk by and not when say, my parents are standing there or my niece. They're still not the brightest creatures in the world, though. When we moved, we took them to my parents for a week or two, and while filling the tank up, we had them swimming around in a bucket. One of them, apparently deciding that life was not for her, jumps out and lands on the flooor, wiggling about and evading our attempts to catch her. I realize that in itself won't help your nightmares about giant fish jumping out of tanks, but the point is that we always keep the lid on now. ;) So how can my giant fish jump out and touch you if they're locked in?! (Not to mention that whole different continents thing, but that's irrelevant.)

Argh, now I'm encouraging you. :)
