Thursday afternoon

I finally got Bjorn's forum to somewhat match the layout of the site last night, which I'm very happy about. I had planned to get that done soon after the site was launched.. I was just too stressed to get it done first. For some reason, I felt somewhat rushed when I was working on the design/content of that site. Perhaps it was because I was paying for hosting already. :) Anyway, it's not quite the same.. the forum would have been much too narrow if I'd kept the side navigation and the pictures, but it's very similar. I'm still fine-tuning it a little bit, but no more major changes, I don't think. I had quite a lovely time editing a template.. after I figured out how it worked. ;) It actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, after I got started with it. I need to go on a advertising spell of some sort, I suppose. Magnus wrote "Raise World-wide Bjorn Awareness" on my todo list this week.. giggle.

I'm feeling very snacky, but I'm not even hungry so I'm trying not to. Besides, I just finished my book, so I don't have anything to read. Most people would wonder what that has to do with anything. I have a major eating/reading fetish. I enjoy it much more than I should. Sometimes I do it even when Magnus is home. That makes me sound like a horrible wife, doesn't it? I only do it when we eat separate things for dinner or order a pizza or something, which we do somewhat often. Separate things, not order a pizza. Sometimes I take pity on him and don't cook, so he can have sandwiches or similar for dinner. Okay, perhaps not quite so selfless as that, but still. Then when he's eating, I usually sit with him, so we get the best of both worlds! I can't help it. It's just one of my quirks, I guess. Dr. Phil would probably make me stop. "How much fun do you think you are to live with?" he'd say. And I guess the esteemed Senator Santorum would have a nervous breakdown at the thought of what I'm doing in my home to break down family values. ... Yeah, I know it was quite a far stretch, but I told myself I wasn't going to go on a rant about him and his "privacy" statements, so I had to work it into a conversation to get it off my mind. ;) *giggle*

I actually think we're going to order a pizza from Papa John's tonight.. Chicken Alfredo pizza sounds too good to turn down! I'm a little nervous about it, though. We'll see how it turns out. Perhaps we should stick with our normal safe order. I do love cheesesticks. I recently found out that they're not as fattening as I thought they were. Not like they're good for you or anything, of course, but still, now I don't feel as guilty about it as before. Which, on second though, I suppose is not exactly such a good thing.

It smells like it does when we moved in.. I'm getting all nostalgic. We spent a LOT of time getting this place cleaned up before we moved in.. it had been rented by random people for eight years or something, so it needed a lot of TLC. One of the things that got done was Liquid Gold on the paneling. It's kind of like Pledge, only more oily. It makes the walls shine, and it also has a very particular strong smell. I did the livingroom this afternoon. Don't think I'll do the rest of the house today, though I should. It's just such a pain in the.. neck. If I put it off, though, I'm going to get that smell all over me again some other day. Troublesome.

Hmm... I guess the Santorum statement means you've turned gay today? *ponder*

One needn't be gay to be offended by stupidity and narrow-minded sons of bitches... ;)

did you find it easy or difficult to tweak the php to your own design? My site has been down for a while and we just got our new dedicated server yesterday so by the end of the week i'm hoping to have my own site up using php but I want to be able to make it look like i want at least a bit.

It was kind of hard, at first glance, when I was rushing to get it all done. That's why I gave up very quickly and installed a few generic templates to begin with.. the only thing I changed in the three that were there previously was the logo, and I just replaced the graphic.. cheating. :) I wasn't in the tinkering mood, at that point, though.. I just wanted it all finished. Last night, I had more time to read through the code to see what was actually there, and it went pretty smoothly after the first few minutes.. which were pretty much wasted time. *grin*

Anyway, I just started with a very simple template and changed the header, table widths and some links and small details. After that, it was a matter of editing the style sheet to change colors and other incidentals. But.. I only had to really work with one of the template files (the header). I'm sure there are plenty more headaches in store for me if I try to change anything more complex, although I'm generally feeling that it would be possible now, at least.

Are you hosting something else than your personal site, I guess? I've wondered about that when you've mentioned your dedicated hosting woes.

I keep meaning to go and post stuff over at Bjorn's, but then I never feel like I have anything to say. Imagine that. Maybe I should post the story of me asking a the two year old if she had a "male part" instead of a cow in the funny language stories post. Hopefully we will be in the US by October, so then I'll make Mike join since he'll be a displaced Scandinavian.

I know what you mean, actually. I'm not the displaced Swede, either! And then there's that whole thing about there being nothing to say when there's not already something THERE to add to. I keep trying to come up with things, but well, I'm not the best person in the world at small talk. But the cow story was very funny, yes. And you're more than welcome to ramble about anything you want. :)
