Interview Questions from

1) What has been the biggest/hardest Swedish-American cultural issue you've experienced? How did you resolve it?
I wrote a long paragraph babbling about how we don't really have many cultural issues, but then I heard the voice of Dr. Phil in my head reminding me to be honest so I started over. ;) The biggest issue we have is the family situation, which is both cultural and particular. My family is large and extremely close; his family is mainly just about his parents and sister, and they seem (to me) to be quite a bit more formal with each other than my family is. My parents treat Magnus rather like he's one of their kids. His parents are unfailingly polite, but we're not in any way close. We barely know each other, and in general, I just don't know how to react to a family that behaves so differently than mine. I'm not saying it's wrong, just not what I know how to respond to. It just bothers me sometimes, although usually I'm okay with it. Not entirely resolved yet, but typically not enough of a problem to worry with.
2) What is your ideal career / work situation?
I'd like to work from home doing web design. To be more specific, I'd like to own my own company and hire someone to do the marketing and get the customers, because I really am not great with talking to people about stuff like that. (This might be in evidence, as I actually do own such a company but have done very little with it other than pay for hosting.) And I want to write books in addition to the web design stuff. So hey, I'm almost there. Minus all the produce. In the likely event of all that not working out ;) I'd like an actual office job doing something webby. I wouldn't mind having
drottningen's job, for example. ;)
3) What was the last book you read?
I'm working my way through a box of romance novels I bought at the used book sale at the library last month.. I think the last one was called Finnegan's Hideaway and rather sucked.
4) Do you think you'll ever make it to the Kentucky Derby?
Probably. Maybe. No. ;) I can sort of see us taking Swedish visitors at some point, since it is a Big Thing that's somewhat local. I can also see us never going. I think we'll make it to a horse race at some point in the near future, at least.
5) Do you think you would ever take a vacation without Magnus? Why or why not?
Nah. At least not without a good reason, particularly not if it's a vacation-vacation. If we lived in Sweden and I was returning home to visit family, I could perhaps see going without him at some point, but other than that or something similar, it just doesn't seem like much fun.
Now. Anyone want to be interviewed? I've really enjoyed reading the answers and writing the responses to these questions. :)
