We actually switched our cable package a few weeks ago partially so I could have access to the GoodLife channel. On Monday nights, they rerun Homefront, which aired in the early 90s. Anyone remember it? I was in love with that show. It occured to me a while back to look for it and see if I could find episodes anywhere. That's when I found out that it was rerunning on this station, but it wasn't even available then. Anyway, ramble ramble ramble, point is that after we've switched.. I've missed it every single time. First week I caught the last ten minutes. The sucky part is that it's not approximately five episodes from the end of the second (last) season, and I remember almost nothing about the show by now. I'm going to make an effort to watch it tonight, at least, and maybe I'll enjoy it even though I don't know what's going on.

I'm quite proud of myself because I've actually added a picture to the photoblog every day since I started it. Kinda running low on good pics, though. I've gotten a surprising number of decent pictures at work, actually. Think I'm kind of running out of the fruit theme, though. :) And speaking of work.. I felt a lot better about it today than I did last week, although it still sucks. I can live with mild suckage again, though. Still. Nice that I have one more day of work and then a day off. :) It helps.

And before I go off in a rant, I want to mention that I'm married to the nicest boy in the world. On Friday, he bought me a necklace.. a cross that I've wanted since before Christmas but couldn't rationalize buying because it's not *real* jewelry but still a little on the expensive side for something fake. I'll take a picture of it later sometime. And today he brought me a couple of shuttles and he wrote me a letter. A real snail-type of letter. It was extra sweet. So even for comic effect, I can't bitchslap the poor boy tonight. Maybe tomorrow. *wink*

Anyway. I'm so pissed off tonight.. There's this kid who hangs around sometimes.. he's my cousin's brother-in-law. I've had frequent bouts of dislike for him for a wide variety of reasons, but I've refrained from publicly griping about him out of respect for said cousin's husband. (Past reasons for dislike include general surliness, his tendency to blame misbehavior on my 12-year-old cousin (they're approximately the same age) and cause him to get in trouble, his penchant for putting on a scary mask and chasing another cousin (with Down's syndrome) around because she was terrified of it, etc.) Also, he has this habit of calling the cops on his mother when he gets in trouble for something, claiming that she's abusing him. Frankly, if there was ever a kid that needed abused, this would be the one. (Not that I'm advocating child abuse, of course. Normally, at least.)

Anyway. What has me so riled up? The little bastard shot my cousin's kitten. Between the eyes. Pretended nonchalance when Angie came out to see what had happened, bringing her two little ones (six and four) with her. Kitten was in convulsions on the ground. Brat says, "hmm, wonder what's wrong with that kitten?" Casey (the one who always gets in trouble for Brat's antics) swore, with tears in his eyes, that he didn't do it--very much believed, no doubt that it was the little brat who did it. Angie was upset and crying, her little girl was crying, and that little hellion is almost definitely not going to get in a bit of trouble for it. Not only does it make me mad at the kid, upset over the kitten, and sympathetic to the cousin--it really makes me feel a little queasy at the thought of this kid being in such close contact with my family. Who might he turn the gun on next? (BB gun. Is that the abbreviation? Anyway, I'm not sure why they were unsupervised at all, but that's another issue.) A lady my cousin works with kept insisting that she have him arrested. Angie was saying, "but he's only 10 years old!" I rather agree with the woman. Some lessons need learned. Argh. Little bitch kid.

I believe so.. can't see any way for it to live after being shot like that. It wasn't expressly mentioned, but rather understood. ;(

I remember the show Homefront! I really loved it and now I want them to show re-runs of it over here. All I get are Step By Step, Full House and Dr. Quinn *l*. Ewwww! Well, Dr. Quinn is all right.

That kid sounds like he needs some serious therapy or something. Your cousin needs to report the shooting to the police and they can give him a right proper scare. Or maybe she can call the juvenile department and see who the proper people to report it to would be. Sounds like he needs to be put in a mental institution or something. He has all the signs of someone who will grow up to be a serial killer.

She should report it but she probably won't. She's rather a wuss about such things. Definitely not the tough love sort. His potential for serial murderer scares us, too.

I did indeed enjoy watching Homefront even though I don't remember anything about it. And hey, it won't be too long until you can watch it in the US, if you get that channel and all. One more thing to look forward to, right? (If a rather small one, of course.)

How awful! What happened with the kitten? I'm with Carrie on this one -- that kid needs a good scare, and the ones who abuse animals are the ones who turn out the worst.

I totally agree. I just wish I had the authority to do something about it, but I don't. I guess the kitten died.. it wasn't specifically mentioned, but I think they would have said something if it had lived. I still want to give the little jerk a good shaking.

its a very serious issue if he's maiming/killing animals for fun. 10 years old or not this kid needs discipline and therapy. They can both be given in a loving environment. People are afraid to discipline their kids because they love them. Well, they'll regret it later.

meant to add... you have to discipline them because you love them. action now could save this kid from jail time later in life. better now while he's a juvenile than later.

I completely agree. I happen to not love this little brat, but I definitely think he could use a solid dose of discipline. It's so frustrating to know that he's most likely not going to get any sort of punishment for this. :(

Therapy shmerapy. I say we shoot him between the eyes wit a bb-gun. Might teach him how pain works and what it's like to be the little defenseless one. I always disliked him even before this. Bastard little brat.

Would I be a nicer person if I didn't agree with you? :)
