Thought I should write a nice little journal entry while I'm at work. Not that I can post it until I get home, of course. Business has been incredibly slow today, and I certainly have plenty of time to kill. I have a few more things to get done today, but nothing that can't wait.

We've been talking about the possibility of doing Something Nice. We're not exactly sure if we mean something nice for an evening, for the weekend, for when he gets fired, or what exactly this something nice will be, but it's fun to think about. Something different, I guess, is what we're after. I wanna go swimming, at the very least, and I'd like to go to Kentucky Kingdom (Six Flags, amusement park.) And to the beach, and Gatlinburg. And I'm beginning to think it's close to time to go back to Sweden for a visit, though I bet we won't for a while. M's parents said that they would come over to visit us for M's 30th birthday, which is next July. A while back they suggested that they just finance our next visit instead, so we'll see what happens. I really wish we knew what was going to happen with the job situation. Would make planning stuff easier.

I think I'm having some sort of freak PMS week. I really should be completely unhormonal right now, but there were spontaneous tears last night and backaches two days in a row--such delightful occurrences that make me glad to be a woman. Major sarcasm intended, naturally. I just feel so sorry for my poor boy sometimes. But as he pointed out, I'm much calmer these days, less worried, less moody. He's very good for me. I would say that I'm also good for him, but he was griping just this afternoon about gaining five pounds this week. It might have been better if I hadn't learned to cook.. grin. Actually, that's not even true. I might not be the healthiest cook in the world, but we both lost weight after we stopped eating out two meals a day. We have more money, too. ;)

I'm so spoiled. I'm getting wrist cramps from typing. I have a natural (or, as I call it, broken) keyboard at home. It took me a couple of days to get used to it when I first got it four years ago (present from M on his very first visit), but now I can't believe people actually type like this. It sucks!! I've also spent a good while this afternoon playing with Access. I enjoy indulging my geekiness. I didn't finish what I was working on, but I realized I wasn't enjoying it anymore, so I stopped. There's always tomorr.. well, no, not tomorrow because I have the day off, but there's always Thursday. Oh, yay. A customer just came in and complimented me on my computer desktop background. I'm using the tomato picture I posted in my photobloggy thing. I thought it would be highly appropriate for a produce market. :)

This is quite the long ramble. I'm reminding myself of a certain tiara-wearing person. ;) I've killed half an hour, though, and still don't need to get going on stuff for another 45 minutes. I need to do an inventory, clear the register and do the math on that (I created kick-ass forms for it, though, so I rather enjoy it.) and then close up. Really not stuff I can get done ahead of time. Except for the inventory, but that's boring. Oh, and I need to do some shopping, too, which is good for a few more wasted minutes. Need corn. My husband is on a strange corn on the cob kick. He figured out that if you eat three ears of corn for dinner (which is a decent amount of food), then it's just 215 or so calories, plus butter, which is somewhat incidental.. it's still less than half of what we budget for dinner. He got all excited about going on a corn diet, and then he hasn't had it since...go figure. I actually brought three ears home and then threw them away this weekend. Boys are funny.

I'm not nearly as tired today as I was last night. Maybe we should go to WalMart tonight. We officially need a mailbox. My parents and I share an address* and we get our mail at their box by the road. They have a post office box, for some reason, and get almost all of their mail there. Somehow, we've lost the lid to our box, and it seems rather bad to just leave it open, especially with all the rain we've been having lately. I thought it would be nice if we replaced it, since we're the ones who use it the most, even if we're not the ones who technically own it. Besides, my parents are always doing things for us.

*I know that it's a bad idea to share an address for 911 purposes. We've just never really bothered with getting that ironed out. Hadn't really thought of it in a long time, but we ordered a pizza the other night. The delivery guy called to get directions. Apparently, he'd knocked at the wrong door, and he was very irate about it. (I did not point out that it was none of my concern, since the door he knocked at wasn't my parent's, so he had the address just completely wrong-in other words, his fault.) I explained to him where we were located, and added that our address is the same as the house in front. He got extremely jumpy at this point and really let me have it. He knows "those guys" working with 911 and they have a lot of trouble out of this sort of thing and I really need to get it fixed as soon as possible and proceeded to lay the blame for his failure to locate us on the fact that we share the address. I was very polite about it, just tried to get him off the freaking phone so he could bring us our damned pizza.. but I will say that's one delivery boy who didn't get a tip-even though we had laid the money out before he got there with the tip included--that night. You just don't lecture customers! It's an absurd idea, really. Wish I could get away with it sometimes, though.

Bet my loyal readers are just as anxious for it to be time for me to work as I am to get home. ;) I think I'm just trying to do a little of all of my ideas on what I can do with my computer time at work.. I suspect the appeal will soon fade, since it's a lot of small blocks of time that will interrupt anything I'm trying to do. Except for today, which is unreasonably slow. Apparently, business is down all over town. I get said news from the chip guy and the bread man. They have it worse than I do, though.. they work off of commissions, which I think would be a horrible horrible thing. Can you imagine, earning commissions on a loaf of bread? And there are two guys working Heiner's in Morehead! I guess Kroger and Food Lion and such give them a little more volume than Gilliam's Produce, though. :)

Good grief, someone stop me before someone dies of utter boredom. I really need something better to do with my time! But M will be calling here in a few minutes, at least, so I might as well end this and find a disk to put it on. I feel so outdated when I have to use a floppy disk. Will try to spend my normal journal time tonight catching up with my friends.. and will try really hard to not write any more later. ;)

Great ramble! Especially since you referred to me and I'm all vain and stuff. There was actually something I was going to comment on, but it was at the beginning so now I can't remember.

Oh yes! It sounds like you and M are both lucky to have each other. You guys remind me of me and Mikey, including the weight gain thing. Mike has gained a tiny little belly since I've started cooking for him. Guess that's what happens when you go from eating bread for dinner to real food.

Thanks! I actually mentioned you two days in a row which is kind of funny.

I've noticed before that you and Mikey remind me of Magnus and me too! I think that's a large part of why I enjoyed reading your diary before I ever really knew you at all, actually. You actually seem to LIKE each other.. I'm always amazed at how little some couples seem to enjoy each other's company.

I happen to think M's little belly is extremely cute, but he keeps whining about it. Maybe I should try learning to cook low-cal now.. it would certainly do me some good at least. :)

The trick is having a new low-cal dinner each night. :) I may try the corn dinner soon.. it sounds good. :) No butter or salt, though.

Eww.. corn without butter? :) I'm not a corn fan in general, though.
