totte mentioned instead of replying nearly the same thing each time. The recipe was originally to be put on a pizza crust, but I ditched that after the first time and rolled it all up in flour tortillas so I could cut them into little spiral things. (M loves anything if you cut it up into bite-sized pieces, particularly if they're round.) It's 1/2 cup of sour cream (and I used low-fat) and 1/2 lemon juiced with 2 T fresh dill (I used 2 T dried dill because I'm not paying a fortune for fresh dill so it can rot in our crisper, and he likes it very dill-y) to make the sauce. As for toppings, there's flaked smoked salmon, finely diced red onions (good call, ozswede.. M forgot to mention it but they were there), 3 T of capers and 1/4 of an English cucumber. I didn't have cucumber on hand last night, but to make it work in a tortilla, they should be finely diced as well. I really love cutting cucumbers in funny ways other than slicing, for some reason, so this is a perfect outlet. I've forgotten the capers all the previous times, but I threw a few in this time, although more like one tablespoon than three, so if you don't have any, I wouldn't worry about it. Very pretty when it all comes together.
Also, thanks to everyone who commented on the last (now friends-only) entry. It meant a lot to me.. you guys are the best. *group hug* And speaking of comments.. can you believe how carried away two shall-remain-nameless friends got with the posted conversation about corn? Hehehe.
I've written 500 words, but I'm not in the mood for it. It's a dreary day outside, and I want to be curled up with a book instead of writing a book of my own. I want it to rain, and I want to have chili for dinner. As it happens, it's not showing any inclination to do anything other than look really really depressing, and we're having chili tomorrow (if we get ourselves to the grocery store tonight, at least.) Maybe I'll settle for watching soap operas for a couple of hours in the living room with a book and string beside me and hopefully I'll feel more interested in words later on.
