My niece (who's eight) claims that her teacher told her that there was no Santa person in Sweden because the one they had was a 13-year-old girl who prayed when she wasn't allowed to pray and so they killed her. (Because they're not allowed to believe in God, you know.) Therefore, there is no Santa in Sweden. Also, Swedish children always take their shoes off at school.

This was all news to M, who tried to convince her that none of those things were true. She didn't believe him.. I guess she's still at an age where the teacher is always right. I guess the 13-year-old girl thing is about Lucia, but I don't think anyone claimed that she was Santa.

Free Web Design Tip: Stop freaking using maroony purple for links. Blue is for links, maroon is for visited links. Your eyes pick up on that without even thinking on it, and it's confusing if you switch it. They might not be the best choices ever made, but we're stuck with them now. If you must change them to fit your site, fine, but don't bloody reverse them. There will absolutely never be a reason to do this.

Anyway. Pet peeve that I stumbled across today. Now back to my regularly scheduled post. I slept pretty well last night and I'm feeling better than yesterday, but I think I took advantage of that a little too much this afternoon because I'm beginning to feel extremely tired and a touch feverish again. I got some stuff done, most of which involved Christmas. My parents take a miniature Christmas tree to my brother's grave every Christmas, and I usually am in charge of the decoration. They brought it down just as I finished lunch for me to repair (last year's tree still looked pretty good this time) and came to pick it up later. Then there were packages to be opened and sorted.. we received five today. I do love that part of shopping online. :) I borrowed a spare trees to put in the computer room and spent a while stringing it up with too many lights and decorating it. I even brought in some of the smallest presents to put under it. I'm looking forward to M's reaction when he sees it. It's cute. I took pictures but they didn't look cute, they just looked like a boring little tree. .

Have not written a single word on my article, though I've done research. I guess that's why I've posted twice today already. :) I'll get back at it now.

Taking a tree to your brother's grave is such a lovely thing to do. I hesitate to ask since I don't know the story. Glad to hear you're feeling better!

Yeah, I think it's nice. :) I didn't think about anyone not knowing--my older brother was killed in a car wreck eight years ago (two months after his daughter was born.) I've written about it before, but I guess that was before you knew me. :)

:( how sad. I'm sorry to hear about it. I've always thought that I ought to go back and read my friend's journals from the beginning, but so far, I've only managed it with one person and it was before I started my own LJ. Maybe next year during the boring summer months at work when web surfing time is at a premium.

That is such a sweet and wonderful thing, to take a tree to your brother's grave. It must be heartbreaking as well.

I think you need to have M go and have a little chat with your neice's teacher. That's totally crazy that she'd say such things without having a clue *lol*.
