Lucia

500-600 words isn't much, folks. Argh. I'm too darned wordy! But I just finished my first article for Mosaic Minds, although I haven't sent it on to my editor. I wrote it that way just to see what it would be like to refer to having an editor. Not bad, not bad. ;) I thought I would proofread it myself tomorrow morning.

We had planned to go to Lexington today and do some shopping and go to the Lucia event that the Scandinavian Heritage people are putting on, but a series of events caused us to reconsider. We scheduled Magnus to work today (just three hours on Saturdays) so we could do it all in one day, but it just didn't happen like we planned. First of all, I'm still sick. I could have handled the actual Lucia thing, but I didn't want to shop for ten full hours beforehand. I thought that might be a bit much somehow. :) We had thought about him coming home and then us heading back for the thing later in the evening, even though that would mean that M would have driven four hours, but that would really suck. M didn't want to kill seven hours and go by himself, so he did a small bit of shopping before heading home. The absolute deciding factor, though, was that it was very slick already when he left town at noon, and it's been snowing all day, so we did NOT want to drive sixty miles in the snow late tonight.

My cousin graduated (associate's degree) from college today, so I had to go to that this morning. I didn't really want to due to the whole sickness thing, but it wasn't too bad. A little warm and we were a little far up in the bleachers, but other than that it was fine. Then we all went out for lunch.. it was kind of funny to walk into the local Mexican restaraunt and say, "A table for 21, please." ;) Two of my cousins and I snuck out just as the ceremony was about to end to get that table. They sent us to Pasquale's, but as soon as we left, we nixed that plan and called them to tell them that we were going to La Finca's. I talked to my uncle, so the arguments were limited.. worked out perfectly. ;) We just knew that Shannan (the graduating person) would much rather have that, and I thought she should get what she wanted. When I graduated, we ended up at Ponderosa--the one place in town I least like to eat. I thought that was vastly unfair.

This is rambly and not in the entertaining way. I think it's just about time to go watch LotR.. we have to do that before the premiere this week! I'd also like some tatting time and watching those two movies will certainly give me that. I would like to do a few snowflakes for the tree and possibly to give away if I feel generous. :)

Good call about not driving on slick roads! That's dangerous, chick! *bitch* you mentioned LaFincas. LOL! Oh, I miss that place. But I did find a good Mexican place here, right on the corner up from the house actually, so that's handy. And I've learned to cook some of my favorite things, so that helps too. Still haven't perfected the rice, I can do it the same way 10 times and it tastes different each time. Weird. Which cousin got an Assoc? And what in?

I suck at rice, too. I use instant half the time--and we actually managed to screw that up recently (blaming that one on M, though!) I think it's a rice curse.

Shannan got an associate's in Uni Studies. I think she got tired of school.. ha. :)
