I just deleted 46,000 mails--no joke. Almost all of those were mailing lists from the last few years, so no, I don't get nearly that much real mail. :) I've burnt CDs like crazy today and am valiantly fighting against file clutter. I got very very lazy for a while--disinterest. Now I have a lot of projects and things going on, so I had a bit of a spazzy "I can't live like this anymore!" moment, so I've finally gotten a chance to sort through my stuff. Other than that--and don't worry, I'll spare you the further details of what exactly I accomplished today--nothing much has been going on. The parents showed up with Whitley this afternoon but didn't stay long. We finished off both sets of leftovers and the ebay auctions are up to $125. We've been extremely boring but happy people lately, let me tell you. Tonight is also not the night for writing anything good and fun, apparently. I keep sitting here trying to think of something that won't bore the hell out of my dear readers, and I can't come up with a single thing.
M's greencard has conditions on it that we would rather like to remove. We've done our part, but we have to deal with the Texas service center now, and they're pretty freaking slow. Apparently, they're now processing petitions for removal of conditions that they received in February of last year. Joy. They received ours in June, so hopefully they'll get around to doing something about us by May. Given that the thing expires in September, it would be kind of nice to have that out of the way so we don't have to worry about deportation or anything like that. They never make anything easy, do they? We're going to call tomorrow and see what they have to say. They have a pretty nifty case status checker on their website, but it like, didn't work, so I guess it was a little less nifty than planned. Apparently, though, it regularly takes some people over a year for this to be processed, so he can actually apply for naturalization in September even if he's still a conditional permanent resident.
M thinks I'm really funny because I actually use the internet to do strange things like "research" and "look stuff up". :) He's always teasing me about it. Speaking of which, does anyone order checks from somewhere other than their bank? I really need to order some, but I hate paying what my bank thinks I should. I also would hate to get duds, so real life experience would be nice.
Anyway. It's now past 2:30 and I figure it's time to get to bed, although I have my doubts as to whether or not I can take the boy with me. He fights sleep worse than any two-year-old I've ever met. Nightie night. :)

Date: 2004-01-29 08:23 am (UTC)We're just now at the green card bit. Sent in the applications in mid Decemeber after Peter's company sent them through a lawyer to make them pretty ;-) Now it's a race between being granted permission to work through that process and his h-1b visa expiring ;P If all else fails, his employer will be applying for an emergency extension of his work visa -- whee!
Meanwhile, my sister has submitted the last of her paperwork (medical forms) to the Australian consulate in Toronto (yup, Canada) and in about three weeks or so, should be free to immigrate to Australia on a fiance visa -- exciting times around here!

Er, ever thought about becoming a librarian? ;-) :-)

I've order checks from Checks Unlimited (http://www.checksunlimited.com/) before but it's been years since I've reordered. I pay everything online these days -- my bank ("First Technology Credit Union") services geeks primarily and they understand how we prefer to bank ;-)

Date: 2004-01-30 01:41 pm (UTC)Thanks for the checky link! I keep thinking I'm going to set up stuff to pay automatically but I never do. :) We only use them for bills by now, so at least it doesn't cost us very often.
