Sometimes, I completely don't agree with the warm, positive vibes spread around by well-meaning, agreeable people (even if they're just being nice.)

Sometimes, I stand up and cheer when I hear someone say something really negative (even though I wouldn't have said it myself).

Sometimes I'm not happy for someone who I should be happy for (but I wouldn't say that to them.)

Sometimes I'm just really not a nice person...

But.. to be honest, it doesn't really keep me up at night so I guess it's alright.

Once in a while, something pops out of my mouth that I have no business saying out loud. I mean it in a joking manner, but it comes out all wrong. I actually have a standard apology.

I spread my hands, shrug and say, "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to say anything to hurt you but sometimes, I'm an asshole."

I say it with perfect sincerity because it is true, and so far, no one has doubted that.

Perhaps I should adopt that.. I tend to say things like that sometimes, even when I know I shouldn't. But sometimes, it's really nice when someone else says exactly what you want to say and know you shouldn't. :)

Me too! But then, you already knew that. Only I generally really don't let such things pop out of my mouth, but only b/c I generally completely and totally ignore the people that they would normally pop out of my mouth in front of. Or I don't read their journals. I do think there is something true about the thesis that all the warm, fuzzy encouragement can end up being detrimental to a person if it is not tempered with honesty.

*nod* I try not to be the one that says such things anymore but I do secretly enjoy it when others do--well, unless I don't agree with them, and then I don't like it. Contrary, I am. Not that I have a particular situation in mind, of course.. :) Of course it's not surprising that I knew that about you since we think the same on everything else!
