It's pretty nice to have a window just beside my desk. To tell the truth, I had a window beside my desk in just the same location before we moved, but I always had the blinds pulled and a curtain over it to keep out the afternoon sun. From where I sit, I can see tree tops and faded blue evening sky. It's relaxing--it's turned cooler and rainy today, and there's a light wind, so I'm watching the leaves sway gently. I resented the bare trees more than normal this winter, and am still really happy that the green is back.
We had a nice evening yesterday--we cleaned up for a while and then Barbie came over at around seven. We laughed a lot and I think we all had a nice time. It's always hard because you don't know how it will go when you meet up with very old friends, but the history we have filled in the gaps in a lot of ways. I wasn't sure when we first ran into her if we would actually spend any time together now that we've found each other again, but I think we will now, which is neat.
I really should be filling out health insurance applications, but I really really don't want to. My brain hurts, and I have a hard time concentrating on stuff like that during my evenings. I'm kind of stressed out about the whole job thing today--not at all because of the job but because of the eight hours of intensive study time every day. I know it's necessary and I know I need to do it and I'm not feeling bad about being stuck with tapes or anything like that because that's just the way it is, and it'll all be over soon enough, etc. It's just hard and I wish I was done with it. :) Also, the rain didn't help matters. But now it's Wednesday night so the week is half over at least, and there's a three-day weekend in my near future so the world is looking up.
We went to K-Mart tonight and looked around. It was so empty that I can't imagine how they're still in business. I guess WalMart has just completely destroyed their business. They're in the same parking lot here, although they're desparately trying to pretend that they're not. There's a little road that connects them, though. We bought the the third LotR movie and talked about buying stuff for our apartment but didn't really seriously consider purchasing anything. We like to have stuff to maybe buy. Went to another department-type store and looked around after that and came very close to buying some high thread count sheets. We bought the cheapest sheets they had at WalMart when we got married, and that's the only set we have. I've always wanted good sheets, though.. I'm of the opinion that if you spend eight hours a day doing something, you should invest a little money into making sure that you do it well. But I won't get paid until the middle of June, so I would rather like to see a paycheck before I start buying things we don't actually need. Not that it really matters, since we could afford the darned sheets, but it's the principle of the matter somehow. I don't know. We're funny about money.
It's almost nine now so I should go call my parents and then I think I'll go to bed. I'm so sleepy this week. And one of these days I'm going to have to start getting some stuff done in the evenings instead of just wasting time. Maybe tomorrow..

Date: 2004-05-27 11:45 pm (UTC)i hate buying sheets...
Date: 2004-05-27 12:19 pm (UTC)I have 2 packages of sheets you can have, if you have a normal sized king bed. They have never been opened and do not fit my bed. I have no idea on thread count, probably 200 or so, isn't that the norm? We have one set too, it barely fits our bed. We have one of those 22 inch thick mattresses. I didn't realize that when we bought it. Anyway, if you're interested, you can have them.
Also, if you want some really good high thread count sheets for cheap, you should check out Tuesday Morning. It's over here on my end of town. They have really nice stuff, it's like big lots for people with expensive tastes.

Date: 2004-05-27 06:20 pm (UTC)We were over that way exploring your Kroger tonight, actually, and I noticed the Tuesday Morning a day or two ago but we didn't go in. I didn't know that they had sheets, but I'll give them a try. Elder-Beerman (which is where we were last night) had a sale, and we were contemplating splurging, but I'm not really one to buy something without looking around seriously first.
I finally had a few minutes tonight--I added you as a friend, I assume that's okay? :)
