I've been so very busy today. I tried for a while to sleep late, but it just didn't happen. Magnus went to work and then called me when he got there. I meant to get up then, and I really wasn't sleepy any more, but I didn't get up til Dad called at 10. He was at the MSU surplus sale, and he was wondering if Gateway was a good brand for a computer. He was considering buying one of the $50 computers.. I think he's been considering it for a while. He told me it was 32 MB ram and 6-9-6 (this is the way he said it) hd. I assumed this meant a 7 G hard drive. Turned out to be 696 MB, but.. erm. well, it was $50. *giggle* I've yet to determine most of the details, but I have gotten Windows installed and working. As for whether or not it's worth putting money into.. we'll see. It came with a monitor, keyboard and (broken) mouse.. all in all, not a terrible loss no matter what.

Today was also the day that the cable modem guy was coming out to check the problem with our modem. He wasn't here very long, and was only in the room for a total of maybe 2 minutes. Didn't touch the computer, even. It was apparently a wiring issue. Something about cable splicing and plastic coatings.. :) Should be fixed. That's neat. :) He also seemed very much to know what he was doing, which I appreciated. Very young, though.

Anyway, in between all of that, I've been doing laundry and going to Pizza Hut with the parents and cleaning up the house and fixing the website and sending mails to Magnus. He set up a hotmail account (let's not get started about the status of the computers at his job at the moment..) last night so he could have email access at work, so it's been nice to send notes back and forth throughout the day. :)

Now I should perhaps go figure out what to make for dinner and go to the store to get the stuff. Also need things so I can have lunch this week. :) We're out of bread and lunch meat and all that other stuff. I really don't want to go, though. Perhaps I'll find something I can make with stuff we have. And have noodles for the rest of the week.. ergh. :)

I'm so unbelievably tired. Today has been so busy. I kind of like that, but at the same time, it'd be sort of nice to have that business spread out over the week instead of over one day, and have nothing to do for the rest of the week!

The parents were down for a while tonight. I think they wanted to check on the status of Dad's computer. It turned out to be 75mhz, in addition to the things I've already said about it. In general, not the best computer in the world, but. I'm going to continue to tinker/install/etc with it, and Dad's going to use it for his bookkeeping things, I believe. I think I'll give them my old zip drive.. we never use it. *cough* I have a 80G harddrive now *cough* :) That's one particular purchase that I'm still thrilled over, btw. It's worth its weight in gold.. which is approximately how much we paid for it.. ergh. *giggle* Nah, not really, but still. :) I may have to give up my old mouse, too, which I don't wanna. *giggle* For no good reason other than that Magnus gave it to me for my birthday in 1999.. it was our first birthday, before we even met in person. I'm sentimental that way, ya know. :) We'll see. Oh yeah, what I was saying. Dad is going to try to use it to learn enough about computers to see if he likes it, would use it, etc, before he considers buying a new one. So. Yes.

You know what I think? I think that after a certain amount of time, software companies should allow people to use their old products for free. For instance.. what came before Office 97? I can't even find a mention of there being any office suite before 97 on their LOVELY (hear the sarcasm) website that doesn't work in Opera, which I believe is on purpose but beside this particular point, yet I know that there was one. I think that possibly 97 and definitely anything before that should be available for free. I mean, you can't *buy* it now, so why not get a little positive customer goodwill? And when these people using these old versions upgrade to a capable computer, naturally they'll want to stick with the products that they're used to.. etc etc. Oh well. Just a thought.

I didn't end up going to the grocery store. Instead, I went out and cleaned the junk out of Magnus's car.. he likes it junky, apparently, as I got two WalMart bags of trash out (one of those bags contained only cans). Then I worked with cans. See, we have a big trash can full of crushed cans. But during the flood a couple of weeks ago, the water filled the can up, and the cans were floating on top. And it's been so wet ever since then it's been hard to do anything about. Anyway, I tipped the can over and dumped everything out, and after letting them drain for a few minutes, had to pick all the cans up and put them back in the big can. This was easier said than done, because there were a LOT of cans. Over half full. By the time I was nearing the end, my back was protesting violently all the bending and straightening and such, so I had to veto the idea of crushing the uncrushed cans we've been saving all this time. My back is still not quite right, but it feels sore rather than uncontrollable pain causing me to be stuck in a semi-upright position, like I was afraid it was going to do a couple of times. :)

I'm supposed to work for the parents tomorrow, doing some stuff that they need done. I'm not entirely sure what this consists of.. I suspect it'll involve a bit of cleaning and some yard cleanup and some shop stuff.. they should finish the painting tomorrow. :) This depends on whether or not my back is working, of course. :)

I can think of a thousand other things I've done today (changing lightbulbs, replacing batteries in the bedroom callerid, cleaning out my purse, folding clothes, etc etc) but I doubt most of them will provide entertaining stories, so I'll just stop here.
