Monday evening
Apr. 15th, 2002 11:19 pmI do not like this 8 pm closing time thing. It's ridiculous to think that at 6:40, I won't be seeing my hubby for 2.5 hours. This whole schedule thing sucks. :( And next week it's until 8 all week long. Tomorrow, at least, he gets off at 6. I'm trying to convince myself that it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the hour and fifteen minute drive, but I think I'm lying.
I've been in a generally pissy mood this afternoon. My head hurts and my neck hurts and stuff. Now it's even worse.
On the bright side, I got quite a bit of the site done today. Shouldn't take much longer to finish it. I'll be glad to have it done.
Magnus called SAS today from work, and they weren't quite as helpful as I think they should have been. The plan was to use his bonus miles to go to Sweden. There were no flights available anywhere even remotely close, for one thing, and they don't book third-party flights, naturally. We're currently scheduled on a flight from Newark to Arlanda on May 19 at 5:45, arriving at 7:40 am on May 20. The problem lies, of course, in getting to Newark. *sob* Nothing is ever simple. Our current options, as I see it, are flying, driving, riding.
First let's talk about driving. Apparently it's 634 miles from Morehead to Newark. I figured it'd be farther than that. Anyway, estimated driving time: just under 11 hours. Plus, we don't really have a car that we would want to take that far. If, however, we did take the Cavalier or something, we would have to arrange for week parking. I'll estimate that at $120. I'm pulling this number out of my.. hat, of course. :) We could rent one for less than $200, one way. Possibly less than $100. So.. Less than $400 for us to get there and back. This is still less than the cost of two flights, but it'll take longer and may require an overnight stay to time it correctly. Not sure. Greyhound would get us there for $118, total, for both of us. Problem is being on a bus for something like 18 hours, and timing it exactly right with the flight. Again, it might require us going a day early and finding a room for the night. On the other hand, we could probably go TWO days early and get a motel room and still be cheaper than the other options. :) And, of course, the last option would be flying. This is definitely the quickest, and the most expensive. The cheapest flight I've found thus far was $195 per person from Cinci, and that was a Bargain Fare, available for two more hours only... from what I understand, I may be able to find that rate again, but no guarantees. This was plus tax, of course. Oh, and unless we can get a ride to the airport in the form of my mommy, the longterm parking issue applies again. I suspect that I could talk her into it, though. :)

At this point, Magnus called to let me know that he was on his way home (I was being slow with the above writing and doing other things between paragraphs), and then Whitley came to the door, and so I visited with her and Mom for a few minutes, and then started on dinner. Timing was pretty good.. Magnus had just enough time to change clothes and stuff before dinner was ready. Broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes. Pretty good, but the potatoes didn't seem to be all that good. As in, pre-cooking state. They weren't old or anything, but they weren't in spectacular form. Oh well.
Then we came in here and have been checking mail and stuff. My Convert-It program apparently has a fastidious beta tester. *giggle* Now Blatt is complaining about how you can convert temperatures below the range of possible temperatures. ;)
I think I'll try to go to Lexington to have lunch with my hubby on Wednesday and return the dress that Magnus didn't like. :( giggle. I'm just being mean. I'm not particularly attached to the dress in itself, I just thought it looked nice. He has a problem with the larger floral print on the black dress. I think he's silly. But I'll maybe find another one. I'm not entirely sure what else I'll do, but I might go ahead and get that one wedding gift I was thinking of. And I just might make it over to the Barnes and Noble area and Garden Ridge and stuff. That'll be fun. Should start making a list of things to look for. It feels so strange to plan shopping excursions by myself. :) Kind of fun, though, in a weird sort of anti-social way.
I've had a really hard time staying focused on anything this afternoon and evening. Not sure why. It's taken me many hours to write all this. Perhaps I should give up now. Hmm.. Yes. Indeed, I will
