Wednesday afternoon
Apr. 24th, 2002 01:07 pmMy hubby is now going to do a journal! It's so funny because I've been talking about how neat that would be, but he's been uninterested. But last night he decided he wanted to give it a try. Looking forward to that. Like I've mentioned before, it's almost like doing the email thing before we were married and together.
So. With all the excitement of M's journal last night, I forgot to post in my own. Oh well. Yesterday I was a little productive. I made lots of lists and decided on things to do, and then I went to *a place* (can't mention yet) to buy birthday presents for both Lisa and Kina and stopped at Coffeetree (bookstore and coffee shop) to pick up a card for the wedding present thing. Other than that, nothing much exciting happened. I washed my older Vera Bradley purse and I'm thinking about switching to it. It's yellow and springy feeling, and I'm freaking sick of the way my current purse slides off my shoulder.
I've decided, I think, that the comic books won't do. I'm more interested in building vocabulary and learning words in context is a major part of that. Comics tend to be full of word jokes and such, and are dependent on all the words. It's not just about looking up every single word.. then there are the problems of idioms and stuff that I can't just look up. So I'm back to the drawing board about that. I think I'll look for a nice book when we're in Sweden next month.
Still can't believe we're going.
The convertible guy came and picked up his car yesterday (they had to get one from Nashville). He has some good prospects of selling another car or two, as well. That's good. :)
I started an extremely complicated cross-stitch thingie today. I have a little less than three weeks to finish it, ideally. It's a nice tea cup that says Mother.. the plan is to give it to Mom for Mother's Day. I've no clue if this is an attainable goal, but I'm going to try. I bought at the end of December, planning on doing it for her birthday (Jan 5) and as soon as I opened it, I put it back knowing there was no way it'd get done. As for now.. well, I wish I'd started it earlier. :)
My monitor has been flickering lately, and I'm not sure what that's about. It's bugging me, though, particularly since I'd really rather not have to replace a monitor. I just now switched it back to 1024 x 768, we'll see if that helps. It really shouldn't be the cause, it's been 1152 x 864 for.. well, years. Kind of funny because it feels like I went to 640 x 480 or something. Everything is huge! Oh, and I'm still getting those freaking viruses. What's WITH that?
