Friday morning
Apr. 26th, 2002 11:23 amLast night our lovely cable modem was broken. The cable (tv) was out for a while yesterday afternoon, and then the internet was broken on and off. It worked for a ilttle while in the afternoon, but then was gone for the rest of the evening. I was busy and not online anyway, so I didn't call them, but Magnus did when he got home, and they found out that it was actually on the local company side, which was good news. This morning it works, although it thought about it for a long time first. :) Anyway, that's why I couldn't post.
So. Yesterday. I got up, checked mail and did cross-stitch for a while. Showered and had lunch and all that, did more cross-stitch. I want to have this done for Mother's day, which is May 12, but I told Mom last night that I 'knew what I wanted to get' for her, but wasn't sure I'd be able to find it. Just in case it's not done.. then she doesn't think I'm making up a last-minute excuse. :) It's so complicated. And I'm getting completely lost as to what color combinations I've made already. But I made a bit of a nice progress.
I was planning on taking the wedding present to mail, but I needed masking tape, so I would have to go to WalMart first. Didn't feel like it and then ran out of time. I might go today, but I don't know. :) I worked on the mandolin site some, and I also listened to Days of our Lives (though not at the same time). I've decided to try to get into it again, mainly because I need a variety in background noise.. FoodTV is getting a little old, all day. :) It's so dumb right now, though. All this stuff about baby-switching and who's the father and pretending to be another baby's father and all that.
I finally got sick of all the dishes cluttering the counter and did those. It took me.. oh, I don't even want to talk about how long it took me. :) AND I cleaned the counters and table and swept the floor and all that, because it is indeed part of doing the dishes, even if my hubby doesn't agree with me. His bachelor friend even agreed with me about this. But anyway. Also changed the sheets and folded laundry and such. My mommy called me earlier and invited me over for dinner, so I went up there around 6. Dinner was at about 7:20, and Ike and Alice and Aunt Rita were all there. Brad called and needed picked up at Mr. Gatti's (where he was at with a friend) and so I volunteered to go pick him up. So I got to drive Aunt Rita's car. It as really nice! It ran so quietyly that I actually turned it off thinking it hadn't staretd and tried again. It drove really smoothly. It's a.. Buick of some sort. :) So. Yeah. And then I brought a plate of food (enchiladas and rice and beans) home for Magnus to eat for dinner, which meant that I didn't have to dirty my kitcehn again so soon! ;)
I hate the whole Bachelor concept.. that TV show that ended its first (?) season last night. 25 girls compete to marry the one guy. Ahem. It's such an outdated, sexist idea that it makes me feel somewhat ill. And it wasn't, apparently, just "talking" with this chicks.. there was supposedly some definite hanky panky going on with a few of them. Okay. If you were one of these 25 women, would YOU want to marry someone who was sleeping around and you were seeing it on TV?! Who is okay with this?! What are these people like? And apparently, at the end, he picked one of them, gave her a rose, and showed her the ring, and then took it back and now they're just going to live together. Wtf? So you go through all this trouble to win, and then you don't even get married?! I mean, really.. who would have watched a show about how he dates 25 women and then dates one of them longer? Arrgh. And the dumbest thing? If they did it in reverse, one woman and 25 men.. the woman would be called bad names, and no one calls HIM a slut.
People suck.
Oh! And Friends wasn't a rerun! Rachel's baby shower! But they were misleading.. it was supposed to be a full hour of new shows, and they did the usual.. one new, one rerun. How much does it make sense to watch a show about the baby shower and then watch a show where Rachel decides whether or not to tell the baby's father? But still. :)
Oh well, time to go shower and stuff. I slept late this morning because M had to be in at 8:30 (and he still has to work until 8 :( ) so he left the house at 7 instead of 9, and therefore I didn't wake up when he left. :)
