Long day. I was actually up before 7! How perverse is that?! :) I had to be ready to go to Krista's Special Olympics in Ashland, and I wasn't sure when we'd be leaving. Turned out to be around 8:30, but I had a little bit of time with my precious, so all was well. I was assured that they weren't staying longer after the thing, so I rode with them rather than drive. See if you can figure this out. It ended at 12:30, and I didn't get home until 6:30. One hour of driving between here and Ashland. That leaves five hours unaccounted for. Want to know what we did for five hours? We had lunch and went to K-Mart. Ergh. :)

It was so neat to be there this morning with Krista. She was so excited. (For the unenlightened, Krista, my 8 year old cousin, has Down's syndrome.) She did the 100 meter dash, the relay race and the standing long jump. She got 2nd, 1st, and 2nd place, in the order mentioned. It was also neat, too, because we started counting how many people were there just for her.. and realized that there were 26 of us. :) I like having a close family. I took some pretty good pictures, and I'll post them on a webpage--not resized or compressed--soon for the family. With linked thumbnails, of course. I took like sixty pictures. *giggle* Granted, not all of them turned out, and they weren't all just of Krista. :) But most of them were.

So then sixteen of us decided to go to Applebee's for lunch. To be honest, I would have been just fine without that additional togetherness, because it was mainly just hectic and slow to get 16 people fed. It was also across town, so we went there, waited for a table (or four to be pushed together), waited for our drinks, waited for our food for an hour or something ridiculous like that, and then ate for an hour and then waited even more ridiculous amounts of time for the check to be sorted out. Total price of lunch, including gratuities, for sixteen people at Applebees for lunch? $189. Anyway. He kept insisting that he'd just sort out the ticket at the end, and then the last two checks refused to be printed out, and what did print was wrongish, and it was a huge mess and THAT took forever. Finally, I took Whitley to Office Max next door and we looked at paper together.. the kid's worse than I am about paper. She really wanted pencils, for instance. Run of the mill, number 2 unsharpened pencils. In a 36 pack. *giggle*

So then we made it to Grayson, dropped Rae off at her car and went to K-Mart. Again.. it's not really necessary to discuss how much time we spent there, but I guess if you've done the math, you realize that there are approximately two missing hours. *grin* Not all of this was pleasant, as it got old after a while. But! I found a nice button-up short-sleeved shirt (bright crisp reddish pinkish color) for $7.50. That was cool. And a pair of sandals that seem to be divinely comfy. So, that's neat.

So now I've been awake for quite some time and am getting somewhat tired. Not sleepy yet, though, at least. I suspect it wouldn't take all that much longer though. :)

Oh right. I didn't write yesterday evening. Nothing much exciting went on. I went to WalMart for daily essentials, and had Wendy's for dinner. It was nummy. I watched a movie while waiting for Magnus to come home.. one of Brad's. Whatever It Takes, I believe it's called. Somewhat cute, and much better than I expected, although it was still.. well, a teenager movie. :) Cute, though. Worked on cross-stitch some. That's about it.

M is playing some sort of silly computer game. Maybe I can go make him play something with me instead!
