Sunday night
Apr. 28th, 2002 11:37 pmMy eyes are so sleepy. This is my husband's fault, I think. :) He tried to poke one of them out last night. We were falling asleep/had fallen asleep, and I woke up enough to roll over and remove his arm from my pillow. He moved his arm and stuck his finger in my left eye. It hurt so amazingly much. He was pretty uninterested in my agony and fell asleep again immediately. He doesn't remember it happening now. I had to get up and put drops in, and I feel pretty certain that if I hadn't, I'd have had eye problems all day today. Instead, they just felt somewhat tired. I've had fun teasing him a little bit today, but I do recognize that it's not actually his fault. He has been extra nice to me, though, so maybe he feels a little guilty. :)
We decided not to go to Papaw's. Actually, we didn't really decide so much as not make a decision until it was 2:00. Then we had lunch and went off to rent a movie. M hadn't seen Forrest Gump, so we rented it. It was as good as I remembered it. Possibly better in places. And dangit, it still made me cry. I wondered if it would. That scene with Jenny throwing rocks at her old house gets me every time. I strongly relate to the sentiment, though. Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks.
Anyway. Since we were out there, we went up to Kay's (jewelry store) to look for birthday presents. That was fun! I saw several things that are serious maybes. A cross and a citrine pendant are at the top of the list, though. And! I've been looking a lot at the round thingies. A round diamond with a circle just around it in gold or platinum or whatever, on a chain. And we found one with an itty bitty diamond for $27. It's so cute! Also, I honestly liked the ones with smaller diamonds. This one might be carrying that sentiment a bit too far, but still, for the price it was amazing. So I got to wear it out as a combination Sunday present and early birthday present. It's really cute. :)
After we left Kay's we decided to go over to another jewelry store, by Kroger. They were closed, so we went grocery shopping instead. That was less fun. :) For dinner, I made the so far ultimate sandwich: smoked sausage, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and swiss cheese, wrapped in foil and baked. I'm sorta in a competition with myself to make my precious the bestest sandwich, since he's so crazy about them. Weirdo. :)
This evening, we went up to the parents' for a while. Mom isn't feeling all that great.. arm pains. I wish she'd go to the dr, but she's refusing. We came back and Magnus has worked on his electric mandolin project, and I've done a bit of this and that. We watched some of the Forrest Gump special DVD junk.. some of it was really neat. Lt. Dan's legs, for instance. Really well done. We did dishes together and got the kitchen straightened up, and now we're doing online things.. I think I'll go to bed and possibly read after I finish this.
Auntie sent me an air ferm. It's so cute! Indestructible, no soil, no watering. Is the thing even real? How do they work? ....... Quick research answer (I do love the internet): no. They're the skeletal remains of a tiny sea animal called Sertularia, a distant relative of coral. Neat. Read more.
Plans for tomorrow: paperwork (receipts, bills, calling MCI because they're billed me in error, balance checkbook, file papers), watch second movie (chick flick. Riding in Cars with Boys. M didn't wanna see it.) return movies, wrap and mail wedding present, do or at least sort laundry, straighten up, return enchilada plate to Mom. The View, Days, cross-stitch, mandolin site. Now, the question is how much of that I actually get done? :) I'm already trying to talk myself out of some of it. :)
And.. in honor of tonight's movie, I must say this: That's all I have to say about that.
