Sunday night
May. 12th, 2002 11:11 pmNo more weekend. :( That's sucky.
I just finished watching Dirty Dancing again. I'd like to know how many times I've seen it.. kinda. I also suspect it would make me feel pathetic. I only watch it.. once or twice a year now, but I used to watch it every day, when I first saw it. *giggle* That was when we lived in Augusta, so I guess I was.. 10ish.
More driving the car! Fun fun! Magnus and I are fighting over who gets to drive now, which is highly unusual. He almost always drives, normally. We still love it, so that's good. Today was Mother's Day, so they weren't going to cook, therefore we ate before we left. And because we had ground beef that had to be used, I made spaghetti for lunch. Then we did dishes and stuff to waste time to let everyone get back to Papaw's from eating. Turned out that they ordered food, so it didn't matter, but anyway. Spent part of the afternoon outside, which was pleasant. Except that everyone was working. I refused, on the general principle that I'm forced to comply with the notions of "women's work" (ie, dishes) therefore I decided that I don't have to participate in "men's work". Surprisingly, no one argued the point. I suspect they figured it was more trouble than it was worth.
We came home and I cut Magnus's hair, and it's too short. He TOLD me to do it, though, so he can't complain too much. We have a week before we go to Sweden.. it should even out. Anyway, went to Mamaw and Papaw's and stopped at Slone's to get butter and bread and such (the hubby left the butter out on the table on Saturday morning..) and came home and haven't accomplished much of anything worth writing about. Did some more cross-stitch (obviously, as it's Mother's Day today, it didn't get done) while watching the movie, but got bored and headachy, so I stopped.
Dad called tonight and said that there was a call on the Caller ID with a 303 area code, which is Colorado. He figured it was for me, as that's where my best friend from middle school in Memphis lives. I called the number and it was a prepaid calling card number, so. Anyway, I thought about it and decided that it was either Michelle or it was time to get in touch with her again, so I called her house and left a message. So we'll see how that goes, if she calls back. Last time I talked to her was summer of 2000, I believe. We should exchange email addresses if we get in touch with each other again.
It was so cute earlier. Devon had a toy plastic pair of pliers, and he was picking up and holding caterpillars with it and watching them. I told him to be careful and not squeeze too hard, and he looked up at me and said "cause it will bleed?". I agreed that yes, it would bleed, so he asked next "would it cry?" *giggle* It was really cute, though I wasn't sure exactly what to say.
The insurance check should get here tomorrow, which is nice. The whole insurance thing is so annoying. Even if I do like the new car better than the old one, I wish we didn't have to deal with them.
I have a bunch of stuff to get done this week, and I have this sinking feeling I'm going to run out of time.
There's a new A-Ha CD out. That's vaguely exciting. The last one reigned for a long time as the only purchased CD that BOTH of us liked, and at the same time. This is somewhat surprising, as I'd never particularly given a thought to the band in any way until I met my hubby, who had bought the CD on a whim back when he had disposable income. ;)
Need to do the guestbook for the mandolin site tomorrow. Ugh.
Out of things to ramble about so I guess I'll be off for tonight. wavies!
