Our stupid internet connection has been uppity today. It started out laggy and unreliable last night, and has been essentially gone all day today. I was going to call them this afternoon but I couldn't remember the number, and I couldn't look it up on the internet.. argh. :)

Anyway, so I'm writing this offline and will hopefully remember to update it in the unlikely event that we have a connection tomorrow. I didn't write yesterday so I hated to skip it.

Today has been somewhat boring. I worked on Photoshop stuff.. trying to learn the more complicated graphics stuff well. That was kind of fun, but I'm running out of good tutorials. :) I'm sure I'll find something, though. Lots of people love making webpages about how they know so much more than you.. grin. Anyway, I went out to where my parents are camping.. they just set up today and are planning on staying the rest of the week. It was really nice and quiet and we had fun. Had barbecued chicken and grilled potatoes and mac n cheese and hot dogs and such. Pretty good! Magnus and I are considering using the camp setup next week a little bit if we can. We're not sure, though.

Yesterday was equally unnewsworthy. Stuff happened, of course, today too. But nothing worth writing about, really. Well, there is one thing.. but again, I'm not writing about the new thing quite yet. Tomorrow, maybe. It's the trouble with a public journal. I'm writing this for me--but allowing anyone to read it makes it a little more troublesome with secrets. :)

Internet connection still out. Magnus called them and explained what was happening, and the tech guy says, "Oh. You have a real problem, then, if that's happening." Well, duh. Almost no internet for two days.. that was our first clue. We were able to check mail a couple of times, but nothing much more than that before it died again. Anyway, they're sending someone out tomorrow (which is a Saturday, which speaks of the urgency of the problem.. typically they make us wait a few days) to look at it. I think that they should subtract some from our bill for the time it didn't work and the inconvenience that caused.

Magnus got his birthday mandolin today. We went to Grayson and bought it from Bart. It's a Korean-made Kentucky A-style. His old one was purchased for $35, and sounded approximately as good as one might expect a brand new $35 mandolin to sound--not good, in other words. But it served his purpose pretty well--he played with it enough to see if he wanted to seriously invest the time and money and effort into actually playing. Now, maybe he'll stop talking about which one he's going to buy and when.. :)

The parents are still camping, of course, and they invited us up for lunch. Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. Really really good hamburgers on the grill, even! Whitley was there, and we drove around a little on the golf cart and played some Texas horseshoes, and generally had a pretty good time.

Okay, now the big stuff that I haven't written about before. Magnus quit his job today. No more Volvo sales for Precious! He's been talking back and forth with a large cellphone service company (purposefully vague here, of course) about a job he'd applied for before he even applied at the car place. They mailed him while we were in Sweden, and.. well. Long story short, here. He's going to be the team leader (we think this is equivalent to store manager.. we'll see) of a store selling cellphones and service and such! Yay! So.. next week he has off, and he should start the new job on Monday, July 22. More details as time progresses, naturally.

We also went to the mall in Ashland, since we were out that way. That was fun. I always think of the first visit when we go to that mall together.. I know it's silly, we've been married nearly two years by now. But there was the jewelry store where the lady near drooled to see us walk in (we were all dressed up, for some reason), and the atm where he got money, and the chinese place where he said, "and *I* am paying this time" and.. happy memories. On the later visits, we went to Lexington most of the time. :) Neat memories.

I take that back about not having to listen to babbling about mandolins. Now he's talking about how he's going to build lots of them and he'll start selling them after the fifth or sixth one and... argh. :)

After we got home, we were super productive. I'm extra glad to be done and doing the nightly computer time thing. I made zucchini bread while he ran to the store, and then he did dishes and cleaned the fishtank while I straightened the computer room and bathroom and vacuumed the whole house and stuff. So now the house is all clean and we're all happy. But tired. :)
