Thursday night
Sep. 5th, 2002 01:11 amI was doing so well for a while, remembering to post more often again. I've become a slacker once more. :) I have 947 unread emails, too, that I can't be bothered to read most of. See how that makes me sound so nice and important and like people send me mail? 911 of them are from one single mailing list, not counting the few I deleted (before getting bored) without really reading the other night. It's a great list, but I haven't felt much in the mood for them this week. :) (I do still read nonlist mail, for all the good it does me. But johnson@wanttosay.com has eagerly promised to share with me the secret of immortality.)
Anyway, so what else is new? ... I got my ticket for Poppy Mountain paid for. Kind of sucks, actually, because it's really not my thing, and if it were completely up to me, I could skip the whole thing. But my Swedish hubby has gotten (unexpectedly) heavily into bluegrass since his arrival, and he missed the actual festival last year because of the veggies. (Concessions.) This year, he actually is going to be there with his job, setting up a booth for the company. Therefore.. free ticket, and enough free time to enjoy the shows, with any luck.. or he'll be pissy.
Speaking of M's bluegrass obsession.. he spends a good deal of time hanging around a mandolin message board. Apparently, there have always been heated discussions about the quality of this particular brand of cheapish mandos. This one guy (let's call him Joe, as I have no clue what his actual name is) dislikes the mandos, but he purchases one and announces that he is sending his newly purchased mando on a tour of the country so anyone who wants to see what it was like could play it. Brand new, $550 instrument.. all the people have to do is pay for shipping. We're talking thirty people or something that this guy really doesn't know. I really love things like that.. but you couldn't get me to send off that much money to the whims of strangers.
Whitley has started cheerleading.. I have no clue how long that will last, or if she'll enjoy it.. her first game is Sunday. When she was five, she played soccer.. it was the cutest thing. Actually, I should clarify. Some of her friends played soccer, while her and two other kids ambled around the field looking very bored, for the most part. *rofl*

A rare moment of watching the ball.
Oh well. I'm not much in the mood for bed, but my eyes are getting very sleepy regardless. Night!
