Monday morning
Nov. 25th, 2002 12:05 pmThe weekend was spent almost exclusively with the computers. We spent an inordinate amount of time fixing with M's computer, adding his new hard drive, then we had to reinstall an operating system.. and formatting 120 G took a LONG while. And not to mention that after Windows was installed, he turned it off and put the case back together and in his desk and replugged everything in.. and was informed that there were no hard drives. *giggle* It's humorous now, but it most certainly was not at the time. Anyway, I decided that he had a nudist computer.. didn't wanna run with its clothes on. *laugh* I took a picture.. I wonder if we'll remember later on what that was supposed to be about? And yesterday, we switched the graphics cards back, so I'm happy again. Also, we've been mudding more than usual. Real people doing more than idling on the muds, and I'm even running on Ebb of Reality. Fun fun!
We did go to the parents both Sat and Sun and had dinner and visited, which was nice. It's incredible how Papaw is doing now. Every day he gets better.. now he's up walking by himself (though he tends to like people around while he gets up.) And he talks more than I've ever heard him talk before, ever. It's incredible. We were watching him from the living room Saturday night, where he was talking to people.. but even in between conversations he was grinning. Last night he picked up his banjo and played it for the first time.. it was so very neat. He keeps Mom and Auntie up all night talking, and he says things about how lucky he is and how many people seem to care about him. He's really not the type to be openly happy and sentimental, so it's particularly great to see him like this after we were afraid he might die in surgery or something.
Oh, and a funny little story to close with.. Bush fans, close your eyes. Apparently, immediately after he woke up from surgery, they were asking him questions to see how alert he was. How old are you, what year is it.. etc. Then they ask, "Who's the president?" and he replies, "we don't have one." ROFL!
