Sunday afternoon
Jan. 26th, 2003 01:33 pmWhy am I sitting here procrastinating when I know that what I should be doing involves showering and grocery shopping and laundry and WalMart? I think I have a procrastination gene. Oooh, I almost made a really lame joke about genes, jeans and laundry.. you should all be thankful that I refrained.
The grandfather is on his way home from the hospital now, which will take a couple hours due to the distance and the stop for lunch. So that's good, but it also means I really should be not procrastinating, since we should go up there and to my other grandparents today. I once surprised M by saying that I felt guilty for not spending as much time with my family as I should. Apparently, he doesn't know anyone else of our age that spends so much time with family. Certainly more than he spent with his before he moved. Families are such weird things, particularly when one stands just on the edge of someone else's looking in. But I digress.
Magnus and I got into a long and involved discussion of World War II this morning. Someone on Amerikanska posted a link to some message board where people were saying, basically, that Swedes were evil, bad and stupid. It's (so far) so stupid that even those who seem to love to complain and argue have ignored the actual statements made on said message board, though they seemed poised to get into it on other matters, much as usual. We started off discussing foreign policy and general matters concerning cultural differences, but we ended up back in the 40s discussing where Hitler went wrong. Rather suddenly, we both realized that we were having the most boring conversation ever and shifted our attention to more pressing matters.. ie, lunch. :)
The hubby has found a computer game (Mafia) that, as he says, makes him interested in computer games again. He sounded very excited when he mentioned this a few days ago. I didn't have the heart to question him on when he felt he had lost interest, as that's his major killing-time hobby and there has been no noticeable difference in time spent playing games either way. Boys are so funny sometimes. Incomprehensible, but funny. :)
