Thursday afternoon
Feb. 13th, 2003 03:26 pmWe have a pile of things to do and I don't feel like doing any of them. Guess I'll have to get going with it soon anyway, but I wanted to write a few minutes first. I meant to do so last night, but I got really sleepy all of a sudden and had to go to bed earlier than I expected. Magnus thought it was cute, but I thought it was really annoying.
Anyway, the big news is that... he got the job!!!! He'll start on Tuesday. This is such a good thing. I said the other day that I felt guilty for making him leave a really good job to work at a series of bad ones, and now I don't have to feel that way anymore. Yay! The company seems to be excellent, supportive, and friendly, and the boss is a nice guy, and the job should be (ultimately) challenging and exciting and something he'll enjoy doing. The company is a computer services type of place in Lexington (an hour away.) We're talking about moving there, but we won't make that kind of decision for a while yet. So.. he'll be commuting for a while, but it shouldn't be so bad, actually. The place is on the east side of town, just off the interstate. You really couldn't have a better location.. he'll stay completely out of the mess of traffic of the busier roads. This is good since I have my worrying complex. Man, am I rambling, and I know I've written about some of this before. It's just so exciting and promising! Our anti-jinx plans worked this time! Yay!
We had been talking about going off for a day or two, but we really didn't come up with any spectacular plans. Everything is either too far away for just an overnight stay, too boring, too cold or too potentially crowded due to Valentine's Day. Besides, we've decided that we should use this time to get a bunch of grown-up things done. Need to file our taxes, sort out some insurance stuff, etc. And we really need to write a will or something. It's just such a depressing thought, though, so we've put it off for over two years now, and I know better than that. We might take a day trip to Cincinnati, though. Possible but not likely.. hehe.
Magnus went to the store last night for milk and brought home steaks for tonight. We have steak a lot, really, but that's also because we have small, cheap steaks. As in.. per meal, less than a meal consisting of ground beef. *grin* These, however, are of the more expensive variety due to celebrating the new job. Anyway, I have them marinating at the moment, but my dad called a little while ago. For some strange and unknown reason, they're having turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes and rolls and all that Thanksgiving stuff tonight and want us to come up. Now what are we supposed to do? ;) Ahh, well, guess the steaks will keep. It'll be a nice Valentine's Day meal anyway.
And I came back from lunch and had two new friends. Isn't that a nice thing to happen? :) Welcome to
