We finally got our taxes done. We've been putting it off, and finally realized that today was the last day before he had to go back to work, and I did not at all want to go down there by myself after he was back at work. They weren't busy, so when we called at 11, they basically asked when we wanted to come in. The whole thing was relatively painless, and the lady was pretty nice. The bad news is that they charged us $154 to do it all. The good news is that we're getting back $1030, so essentially $876 in profit. Of course, it's not profit, it's our money that we've been lending interest-free to the US government all year, but still, it feels good to get that back! We were afraid we'd end up paying more. We talked about it and decided that there was no point in us trying to figure it all out ourselves while he's still deportable by the INS. His conditional status will be removed this year, and I believe it's next year that he can apply for citizenship, and $154 is a small price to pay for the security of not messing something up that could bite us in the butt later on. :) Of course, this money will probably go towards something boring like.. the electric bill, or insurance, or credit card bills. Still good, though!
Yesterday was exciting because I received all my Valentine's Day presents. We slept so late that it was already sitting on the porch when I got up. Anyway, I was very happy about it all, except I accidentally ordered two balls of a certain color of blue thread, and I received two shuttles that were not quite what I ordered. Still, enough to make me beam for hours. Also, today Magnus received his CD. Pretty neat. Oh, and our bathtub doesn't leak anymore. My dad came down and fixed that.
Right now we're toying with the idea of going somewhere fun but pretty local for the weekend before he has to go back to work. Better go decide on that now before it gets much later. Wabies!
