We just finished watching Pulp Fiction.. Magnus bought it a few weeks ago and we've been too busy with computer games and such to watch it. ;) Since not one single person was able to explain to me what it was about, I had absolutely no hope for it being a good movie. I wasn't asking for a major analysis; I just wanted to know what the premise was. No one could tell me, but I do not have that same problem. It's about a bunch of doped-up hired killers and how circumstance brings them all together in crazy ways for one fun-filled three-hour movie. It's simply incredible how the masses of people seem to confuse "weird" and "fucked up" with "artsy" and "kickass". So the person editing the time sequence forgot where to put a few things.. big hairy deal. Having said that, it certainly had its moments, and there was a certain undeniable cool factor. I guess I'm just not big on movies consisting solely of one-liners and dead people. Much better than I thought it would be.. it was entertaining and I didn't hate it or anything. It's just not something I would rent twice, much less purchase. ;)

I just love the phrase "having said that". Have you ever noticed that the only time it's used is when people state their case, end their train of thought.. and then go on to completely disagree with themselves?

Magnus is watching the specials now. He's much more into those than I am, usually. Then again, he's more into movies than I am, and most of the movies we have are ones that he's picked out, so I guess that makes sense. It's midnight and we're supposed to go to Krista's Special Olympics thingie tomorrow in Ashland, which is an hour away. We have to be there at 10, so I'm betting that he's going to be grumpy in the morning. :) I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow.. at least it's getting warmer again.

I took this picture during the relay event last year. )

I've been doing very well at practicing my Swedish, though I haven't yet gone anywhere with the other stuff on my list. I'm suddenly much better than before.. it ain't good, let me tell you that, but it's better, and therefore it's been fun again. I figure I'll never have more time to devote to this, so I might as well do it now if I'm going to.. and if I'm not, I should shut up about it. I'm actually behind on my vocabulary now, which is funny because that's what I was best at for a very long time, when I was just dabbling in learning a few words here and there. I wish I could make myself read the book I started.. I know that'd help with the vocab. On the other hand, who am I kidding? My pronounciation is by FAR the most in need of help. ;)

Oh, and a word of advice.. you can get out of cleaning and still have a clean-smelling house if you pour a small amount of bleach in your humidifer. *giggle* We live in a pool! It does smell clean, though, and most of the bleach smell is only in the bedroom.. it's been three days or something and it's still there. We were having a bit of a wet-dog-smell problem with it, so M added a bit of Clorox to the tank. It certainly cleared up the wet dog! Yes, I know that you're supposed to buy the cleansing junk, but well, we didn't have any. Our humidifier won't last much longer anyway.. it's kinda falling apart.

I have never before in my life had hair so short that it will no longer go up in a ponytail... until now.

We were at the mall today in Ashland and I decided that I was going to get it over with if they weren't too busy. As it turned out, I only got to flip through three pages of the book before my name was called. :) As such, I didn't have a picture for her to look at and she didn't watch either of the TV shows that I was inspired by, so I told her that I wanted it short and flippy, about as long as hers. I was brave when I went in and extremely nervous when she was cutting it. ;) We took a couple of pictures but they weren't really great.. the wind was blowing. Plus I was standing in the shade so the picture quality isn't so great. This is just after I got out of the car, where I played with it for an hour on the way back, so it's a little unfixed. Anyway, here we go. Before (today, even!) and after.

Before haircut.Kisha's new haircut.

I'll let you know if I still like it tomorrow when I have to fix it. ;) But actually, it feels sooo good to have lost all that hair that I don't think I care how it looks! :)

Krista's Special Olympics thing was very cute, and Magnus did better than I did at actually getting a few action shots. They were, for the most part, all so happy to be there, and Krista was incredibly proud of herself. She got two blue ribbons, too. :) And a white.. but that was for the relay race, and the little girl who was afraid of the gun (and therefore couldn't be first in the relay) forgot to run when Krista handed it to her. *giggle* So cute. We also had a nice lunch at the Mexican restaraunt in the mall.. we had intended to eat in the food court but the noise was so loud we couldn't even hear ourselves think.

Oh, and Magnus talked to people about my watch while I was getting my hair cut. I had brought it with me. The jewelry store guy basically said that some people were just like that, there wasn't a whole lot he could say about it, but they couldn't work on Fossil watches there, but he told him where in the mall could. (The watch stand I originally was taking it to but Magnus thought we should talk to a jeweler. *giggle*) Anyway, she tested the battery and found it to be less than half full. I'm not sure what to think about that, because it stopped working after three days. So.. did I do it, or did WalMart sell me a sucky battery? The other battery I bought there the same week stopped, too. Anyway, I have my favorite watch working again, and am keeping my fingers crossed that it'll stay that way.
