Happy smurf girl gets a haircut

I have never before in my life had hair so short that it will no longer go up in a ponytail... until now.
We were at the mall today in Ashland and I decided that I was going to get it over with if they weren't too busy. As it turned out, I only got to flip through three pages of the book before my name was called. :) As such, I didn't have a picture for her to look at and she didn't watch either of the TV shows that I was inspired by, so I told her that I wanted it short and flippy, about as long as hers. I was brave when I went in and extremely nervous when she was cutting it. ;) We took a couple of pictures but they weren't really great.. the wind was blowing. Plus I was standing in the shade so the picture quality isn't so great. This is just after I got out of the car, where I played with it for an hour on the way back, so it's a little unfixed. Anyway, here we go. Before (today, even!) and after.

I'll let you know if I still like it tomorrow when I have to fix it. ;) But actually, it feels sooo good to have lost all that hair that I don't think I care how it looks! :)
Krista's Special Olympics thing was very cute, and Magnus did better than I did at actually getting a few action shots. They were, for the most part, all so happy to be there, and Krista was incredibly proud of herself. She got two blue ribbons, too. :) And a white.. but that was for the relay race, and the little girl who was afraid of the gun (and therefore couldn't be first in the relay) forgot to run when Krista handed it to her. *giggle* So cute. We also had a nice lunch at the Mexican restaraunt in the mall.. we had intended to eat in the food court but the noise was so loud we couldn't even hear ourselves think.
Oh, and Magnus talked to people about my watch while I was getting my hair cut. I had brought it with me. The jewelry store guy basically said that some people were just like that, there wasn't a whole lot he could say about it, but they couldn't work on Fossil watches there, but he told him where in the mall could. (The watch stand I originally was taking it to but Magnus thought we should talk to a jeweler. *giggle*) Anyway, she tested the battery and found it to be less than half full. I'm not sure what to think about that, because it stopped working after three days. So.. did I do it, or did WalMart sell me a sucky battery? The other battery I bought there the same week stopped, too. Anyway, I have my favorite watch working again, and am keeping my fingers crossed that it'll stay that way.

Date: 2003-04-12 07:09 pm (UTC)Wow, I really like that on you! :) And having had longish hair before and getting it cut, I know that you'll be really surprised just how light it feels in the shower too!
I'm actually in the process of growing my hair out longer that it has been for year -- for the wedding and then chop chop! :) Or maybe not... ;-)

Date: 2003-04-12 07:30 pm (UTC)I usually have long hair, but I love how it feels today. It grows freakishly fast, though, so for the last two or three years, I've been growing it out, cutting it off and growing it out again. But this is the shortest I've ever had, especially with the layers. I got a little freaked out when I saw how short she was cutting those! *grin*
And I grew my hair out for my wedding, too. :)

Date: 2003-04-13 02:18 pm (UTC)My hair looks much like your "before" shot. I've not had anything done to it since I've been in Sweden and it has grown really long. I'd love to go back to a short bob, but I think the cost of haircuts here makes it really too expensive to consider.
