I've always thought I'd get into genealogy at some point. I learned, much to my dismay, that it's a hard hobby for a 12-year-old to get into with no car and no money, so I gave it up before I ever really got started, with the intention of picking it up at some later point.

Well, whatdayknow? It seems I no longer need to bother; it's already been done for me. *boggle* I am apparently the great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Jesse Blair and Rebecca Ellington, both born in Virginia and relocating to Kentucky. Such an odd feeling to skim through the names of people I know and realize that I'm a descendent of these people who never had names to me before. I guess that's the general appeal of tracing your family.

Ahh, well, I guess there are other paths to follow if I ever feel the urge again.. :)

I've posted my entry to Photo Friday. You can see it in my (yes, newly-created) Photoblog if you want--the theme is Mechanism.

I took the picture at work yesterday and was pleased with how it turned out. There was a stack of roller thingies outside that seemed perfect. . I actually took several pictures I was pretty happy with yesterday. I might add them over the next few days. I guess my entry into 26 things is officially not going to happen. Nice idea, but I think it served its purpose even without completing it.. we started looking for pictures in a different way because of it. The new camera helped lots. ;)

I rather like the idea of having a photoblog, though I'm not sure how much I'll end up using it other than for the weekly photo. If I continue with it, I might modify the page's template to suit photos a little better. I decided I shouldn't bother with it until then. Magnus has one as well, but I'm sure he'll write about it when he gets around to posting his picture. :)

I've mentioned before that I'm becoming more and more paranoid about the information on our site. If you've seen it, you know that there's a good deal of information posted, and I've been thinking for several months about how best to trim it down or password protect certain sections. I've posted the reason for my paranoia, probably temporarily. [WARNING! 1.79 MB html page, might not want to bother if you're on dialup.] Search terms people use to find our page. This is just since February. We get 6% of our hits from people looking for information on how to build a porch. It just freaks me out a little when I think about what people are trying to find.. not that there's anything wrong with building a porch, but the thought of being that high on Google for it (or any of the other things.. just an example) distresses me.
