I wonder if it's obvious to everyone that when there's no post from me on a Friday or Saturday night, it's because I've fallen asleep on the couch again? It's such a weird thing. I never ever did that until I got married. Of course, I never had anyone pet me during television time before I got married, either, so I guess that might explain it. One of life's small luxuries, I guess. :)

Anyway. I took yesterday afternoon off from work, which was jätte-nice. Stole that from M's aunt, btw, whose English is quite limited but she tried harder than anyone else I've met in Sweden. We use jätte as if it's a real English word by now, though I try to avoid doing it when there are people around. :) We briefly talked about speaking only Swedish one day a week today. I'm really not ready, but that's the point.. we figure that after a couple of months, it won't be so hard. But then again, it's so much work. I feel so lazy lately. Guess that's the toll that 40 hours of produce takes on me. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Actually, that's complete and utter nonsense, as I'm extremely bitter about it. Call me a snob if you must, but to be perfectly honest, I didn't plan on working in retail during those seventeen years I spent in school. I've been pretty down about it all week. I just doubt it's perfectly normal and healthy to cry for 45 minutes before heading to work in the morning like I did on Monday. It's not really that I hate the job, or that I mind the working part. It's just that dealing with people all day long exhausts me, and there's no challenge to any of it. I don't enjoy it, and I hate making small talk. I've never been good at small talk. I do like the money, though. Anyway, hopefully I'll feel better about it next week.. it's not like I'm at my most hormonally-balanced at the moment. ;)

Minor good news was that I'm down two pounds from my previous lowest number. Two different people have asked me lately how much weight I've lost, in that slightly accusatory manner, plus a couple of other mentions on it. I've actually been quite pissy over the lack of loss, since I suddenly started doing manual labor type of work four months ago and haven't seen much of a difference. I noticed just yesterday that I could actually see it some now, so the two pounds made me feel validated or something. I guess that's a grand total of thirteen pounds in a year. *laugh* Not all that inspiring, really, when you put it that way.. well, not too bad, really, considering I haven't really been trying. Except that I've now made myself feel guilty for drinking pop, which pisses me off immensely. I've always thought that since I don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs, I ought to have one vice, and pop was it. Mgmrbl.

I'm a little excited about the tatting project I started last night. It's an Anne Orr doily. She published a LOT of tatting patterns (and other types of needle arts) around the 1950s. They're old-fashioned, for the most part, and quite a lot of them are a bit.. much. Tatting is extremely time consuming, and somehow I just can't see myself ever making six placemats with matching waterglass mats and centerpiece. Anyway, the doily is supposed to be seven inches across but will end up larger than that with the thread I'm using. (30 cebelia.) So.. it'll be the biggest project to date. The part I'm a little excited about is that I woke up thinking about working on it this morning. It's been on a somewhat off spell lately, and I miss it. Need to figure out what to DO with all these things, though. :)

Anyway, I think I'll go work on it a little more before I start dinner. We were going to go to Applebee's in Mt. Sterling tonight (among other wildly improbable plans) but then decided to eat out for lunch instead and have a nice steak for dinner. It's Angus beef--I feel a little disturbed by that now, [livejournal.com profile] courtesy dear.
