M is very excited because Star Wars is going to be on in twenty minutes, so I guess that'll be what we're watching tonight. I don't really mind, since I want to get some tatting done but I want to have something to watch, and it's actually better for that if it's something mildly interesting but not too captivating. I actually have not seen all of them, though I did see the old first one, when it was rereleased with all the digital hoopla, and the two new ones. Actually, we saw the first new one together on M's very first visit. You true geeks out there are thinking, "oh! May 1999!". Afterwards, we stood outside the theater in Ashland, M chain-smoking (hard to think of him as a smoker by now) and bitching about the movie. Then he made an idle comment about the dark future of that cute little kid which just caught me completely by surprise.. can you believe I honestly had no idea? *laugh* :)

He has the original three on VHS, of course, but we can't watch them here since we don't have a dual system VCR. We looked into buying one but finally decided that for almost all of the movies that he has, it would be cheaper to buy them on DVD if we ever want to watch them again than to pay out the wazoo for one that plays both.. except for the home video him and his friends made, which frankly, I'm not entirely sure I want to see, since I've seen at least one naked picture of his friend already. He claims there's no nudity in that movie, but then again, said friend didn't remember nudity either when he whipped out the photos that night. Rofl. Anyway, I'm sure we'll own the DVDs as soon as they get their thumbs out of their asses and release them. That's very much one of M's expressions, btw, if it caught you by surprise.. not exactly something I would come up with, is it?

I still can't believe the horrific stupidity that went into deciding not to release them on DVD until the last movie is done with. They're missing out on three major marketing campaigns that would have prompted the purchase like six Christmases. Exactly how do they think that the number they sell all at the end will make up for that? Besides that, DVDs are generally less expensive now than they were then, and hey, while we're at it, might as well mention that in two more years, there will probably be an abundance of people burning DVDs like they're burning CDs now. (Yeah, I know it's already happening, but not to the same degree, that's my point.)

That was all completely random and irrelevant and now it's time to go watch the movie, I suppose. The excitement might be too much for me if I'm not careful.. :) Odds are that I'll never again in my life write this much about Star Wars again, at least..
