Typing-To-Keep-From-Being-Bored
Aug. 22nd, 2003 08:18 pmToday just keeps going and going, and it’s not even half over yet. The good news is that there’s been a major thunderstorm (including hail!) this morning.. it’s rained hard for hours. This is good news because it means that the whole place is much cooler than yesterday and should remain so all day.. and with luck, when it goes away, so will the humidity. My feet were hurting when I first got out of bed, though, and I’ve been running around like a chicken with its head cut off all day, so I bet they’ll feel just peachy by the end of the day. Bitch, moan, complain.
Excitement! Shannan and Heidi came by, and my aunt, uncle and cousin have been here all day. Shannan and Heidi were going to lunch, and I got to go with them! Woohoo! It was tricky going there at first, since my parents weren’t back, but my aunt stayed with the store for a few minutes. I don’t think the parents were thrilled about it, but they managed okay. So now I have only have three hours to go before it’s the weekend. Those three hours happen to be the very longest of the day, but still. Better 3 than 9!
We took my cousin’s little boy, Devon to lunch with us. He’s 4 (the hitter, you might remember me mentioning him.. he’s been doing a little better with that lately.) Anyway. He was refusing to eat his chicken strips and fries, so after a while I told him that it said on the menu that they were special Spiderman chicken strips, and if you eat them, you would develop super Spiderman special powers. And he fell for it!! It was so funny. Kids are dumb. :)
I’m so looking forward to this weekend. I’m seeing movies in my future, and laziness. It sounds soo good. If my creativity would come back, I’d like to work on scrapbooking, too. Need something to work on, though.. we'll see how that goes.
I heard some extremely enlightening gossip today, but I can’t really write about it due to it being gossip of the secretive type. Still, it’s hovering there in my head and I keep going back to it, thinking about it on and off and wondering how it’ll all turn out. Crazy people. Crazy, crazy, crazy people. Why are there so many crazy people in my life lately?
I ordered a tatting book and some string last Saturday night, and like fifteen shuttles. This was from two different companies. I had a coupon for 10% off and free shipping, and that’s why I ordered the book. It has twelve cross bookmark patterns, and they’re all extraordinarily pretty. I wouldn’t really have ordered it except I saw it earlier that day at the Stitch Niche. They seem to have expanded their tatting section since I was last in there. I guess I should have bought something, but they were more expensive even before my coupon discount, plus the staff there really sucks. They’re unbelievably unorganized and clueless about how to run a business. They need major help, really. Anyway. Yesterday evening when I came home, I was feeling hot and miserable and cranky, and my book and string were waiting for me on the porch. :) That helped! I’m still waiting for the shuttles, and with any luck they’ll have showed up today. I guess it sounds weird to order fifteen of them, doesn’t it? I wouldn’t have ordered any of them at all if I hadn’t seen on the first site that they wouldn’t be getting any more of them because she had contacted the company and been informed that their mold had broken and that they were therefore discontinued. They’re my very favorite shuttles, so I thought that I might as well order a bunch now if I can’t buy them in the future. Just cheap plastic, but they’re very small and light, which is important as my hands are quite small. It’s not a catastrophe, at least. There’s another shuttle that’s extremely similar to the ones I like, and they’re widely available. :)
Oh, crap. We have mints for sale for a nickel apiece on the end of the counter. I hadn’t actually tried one before, but I just did and they’re good. Now I’m going to want to eat them all the time! Eek!
Anyway. I'm home now and it's time for our Friday night movie. Seems we'll watch Dirty Dancing tonight. We also have Mars Attacks, LotR (yes, in preparation of buying the second one this week) and the Tenth Kingdom in the near future.. I see a bit of movie time this weekend. :) Night!
