Sundayness

We got our Christmas stuff up! I'm really excited about it because it looks so nice, with the new carpet and all. We also have garland up the hallway, which we skipped last year, and we also have it above the tree. It looks super. I was being kind of grinchy about the holidays, and this decorating thing helped a lot, I think.

Tomorrow I need to clean house and maybe be social a little. I haven't seen my parents much lately. We're going to take pictures after we get some more of the junk put away. We still have a computer sitting in the living room where it really should not be, and that doesn't look so hot, but other than that, it's all fun.

When we first moved in here, we tried to buy as little as possible because he was shipping all of his junk over, and we didn't want to end up with duplicates. We had a table for our microwave on its way, so we didn't want to buy another one, of course. But yet we needed a place to put it so we could use it.. I didn't cook then, so it was pretty imperative that we be able to use the microwave. Naturally, we upended the box it came in, taped it closed, and put the microwave on top. This would have been forgotten in due time, of course, except that I thought it looked very sad sitting there. I mean, how tacky is it to use a cardboard box as furniture? So.. I decorated it. It might have been sensible to cover it with a tablecloth, but that wasn't the first thing to come to mind. I covered that baby with silver tinsel and red ribbons. It really made the whole thing very tasteful--no matter what M or anyone else said. Hmph. :)

Ahh, good times. Seems like we did a lot of fun and unusual things when we first got married. It's not that we don't do anything fun now, but we're a little less high on the whole concept of living together, I think. We still enjoy it, of course, but I think we're a little distant from the whole horror of living apart thing. That really sucked. A lot. I thought I had more to say about it but as it turns out, I don't. I tried to find a picture of that lovely microwave stand, but I guess we didn't feel the need to immortalize it, for some reason.

I finally got the letter I wrote last Sunday in a card, addressed and stamped this evening. I wonder how long it'll take to put it in the mailbox now? At the rate we're going now, it'll be Valentine's Day before she gets it.
