So the good news is that my new cdrw arrived today, which impresses me greatly. I ordered it late Sunday night and it arrived Tuesday morning? That's crazy fast. M installed it for me--he cares for the hardware around here. You can think of him as a sort of Computer Caretaker. He has occasionally also served the function as Computer Undertaker--I should really have taken a picture when he attacked the hard drive with the car. Anyway. The bad news is that it doesn't really seem to work any better than the old one, which might mean that the old one wasn't entirely broken. Oh, well, it's much faster, it's much prettier, and darnit, it was $15, so I can't complain too much.. now I just need to figure out what's wrong with it.

We actually have plans for tomorrow evening beyond sitting at home. Doesn't that sound all fun and happening? Those plans happen to include a card tournament, which kind of wrecks the mystique. I don't know if anyone plays Rook, but that's what we're going to do tomorrow. And what we did tonight, at that. My cousin Brad (aged 17) called to ask if we wanted to practice a little before the game tomorrow. He had taught his girlfriend to play and they're going to enter it tomorrow, so they wanted to practice a little. There's not a chance that either of us will win, but we always have fun. They play by slightly different rules than we do, so it's harder for us to get anywhere.. the rhythm of the game is changed. My dad and uncle have come close to winning, though. The first year they went, they came in second or tied for first or something like that. They didn't get home until almost six in the morning, which is NOT typical behavior for them by any means. They've since changed the rules to avoid all-nighters like that from happening again.

We didn't play last year because my grandfather was in the hospital, but the year before, we played against two teenagers with very little in the way of personality. I'm not much of a conversationalist at the best of times, but it was beginning to creep even me out. I finally threw out my trump card of conversation in desperation--most of you probably know which one I'm referring to. "He's Swedish!" I blurted out finally. That always gets a reaction. People always want to know wtf a Swede is doing in eastern Kentucky. When they just kind of smiled politely, I knew that it was going to be a long night. When they beat us, I was kind of relieved just to end the whole thing. They ended up winning, though, which validated our loss. ;)

I stole a car this afternoon. I had to go to the post office and the bank, and my car doesn't work, so I took one of my neighbor's vehicles without their permission. :) That's actually true, but the neighbors in question gave birth to me, so you can kind of get away with a little more. :) They weren't home, so I couldn't ask, but they would have agreed. I got extremely pissed off at the post office. I pulled into the spot, turned the car off, and I was gathering my purse and such when some bitch pulled into the spot next to mine--and she was so close to the car that I couldn't open the door! What's wrong with someone like that? And of course, the most annoying part is that I had to physically move the vehicle, repark and THEN get out to do my business--and she was three people in front of me in line by then, when I should have been in front of her. People suck.
