Random Reasons that M is sweet.
Saturday was quite nice. We were in Lexington in time to meet Jenny and Andy for lunch at Red Lobster, which ended up being almost three hours. We split up for a couple of hours to get some shopping in--she needed to find something to bring to the party and I needed to shop for interview clothes. I have something I could wear but seriously, it was as good an excuse as any for new clothes, right? :) We also bought books, which automatically lifts any day. We picked up Jenny and Andy and went to the Finnish thing. I wasn't so much into the food, but the gathering was pretty nice. When we went to the first event at Midsummer last year, we were by far the youngest people there, and then Jenny showed up. Saturday, there were a couple of guys who couldn't be much over 18, a 24-year-old guy and his American wife, plus the four of us. We mentioned getting together to do something as the young crowd.. don't know if that will happen or not. The speaker was a Finnish WWII veteran who reminded both of us very much of my grandfather, coincidentally an American WWII veteran. :) He was also a mandolin player, which M found very exciting. He said a few things that were really interesting (well, not that it wasn't all interesting, just that a few things stuck out.) For one thing, when the Russians bombed Helsinki for the first time, they rather ironically hit the Russian embassy. How's that for bad luck?
M has a second interview tomorrow in Mt. Sterling, so I guess I'll ride down with him. We decided that I'm lucky for job interviews so I try not to miss one. Hey, one time I was so lucky that while he was at the interview, I went across the road to shop a little bit and got a phone call from his dad, who had just sold a steam engine belonging to M for $850. That was all me, you know. ;) I guess that means I should get to bed, though.. morning comes earlier and earlier all the time. :)
- He refuses to pay with his Amazon credit card at Barnes and Noble because he doesn't want them to feel bad.
- He always puts the sharp lids from food cans inside the can and bends the sides in so it won't fall out before putting it into the trash, and finds containers for lightbulbs and such before disposal for fear of a garbage worker being injured.
- He fetches heavy things for me from my parents' house and then doesn't get upset when it turns out that I don't need them.
- He made dinner last night and did the dishes while I worked on Mosaic Minds. (I didn't think I was ever going to get done!)
- He bought me a new game for the Game Boy (and though it's turned out to be super-addictive, he hasn't played it constantly himself.)
- Backrubs. No need to say more on that one!
- Candy!
