This weekend just didn't go as planned. We had a schedule, you know. Saturday was for working, and possibly entertaining family in the evening. Sunday was for visiting. Monday was for relaxing and playing with the house. But the parents couldn't come on Saturday--although we did get a lot of work done with the house. Sunday, we got the visiting down, but then we couldn't come home! By evening, there were weather warnings on a bunch of different channels, and they kept emphasizing that people should stay off the roads due to flash floods and tornado warnings. The clincher was when they pointed out that a lot of roads in Lexington were underwater. It would just be stupid to drive for ninety miles and risk encountering a tornado or being swept away by a flood. There have been several people killed in the last week due to the storms we've been having, so we decided to be safe about the whole thing. Neither of us sleep very well at my parents' house, though.. particularly when the big storm came through at around two in the morning and the neighbors show up to wait it out. Oh, well. No damage done, and it all worked out alright in the end, and it wasn't too horrible.
Anyway, further changing our plans, my parents came down today for a visit. They wanted to see what we'd done to the house and all that, so we spent the afternoon and evening with them. That was all nice and stuff, but we didn't get anything much done. I guess we just like having a plan for everything, whereas my parents are more spontaneous. It all worked out, anyway, and it's good to spend time with them and all that.
I think I mentioned that my grandparents are selling the house they have in the country. They want to give us a bed from up there.. it's just about new, since there was rarely anyone up there. I'm glad that we're getting a bed--I think it'll be pretty neat to have the option of having people over, although I can't imagine who would want to spend the night, except for Tomas--but he was just here, so I don't look for him for another three years or so. I just don't know where we're going to put it. We finally got the spare (computer) room put together on Saturday, and now we're going to have to rearrange everything again around a bed. Troublesome. I have this HGTV vision of turning into a bed/couch, with lots of plump pillows that make it perfect for lounging instead of just looking like a bed. I don't know how that's going to work since it's a double bed, and also, lounging on it would mess it up. So.. it's not the most practical idea I've ever had, and it also makes it even harder to place it in the room.
In more realistic happenings, I bought $4 curtains for the perfect window by my desk today, and I really really like them. They're all lacy and stuff. Although Mom told me not to bother cutting the tag off of them, and it seems like I shouldn't have listened to her, as they are quite clearly visible. Another day, I'll fix that. I'm such a procrastinator. Which reminds me, I'd better go write a check for M to take to pay the rent tomorrow. I need to stop putting off stuff someday.
