Thursday night.
Jun. 3rd, 2004 10:49 pmHave I mentioned how terrific M is lately? Cause he is. I was having a miserable afternoon, but he fixed me right away when I got home. I had a migraine-type headache in the afternoon, and the afternoon's tape was about database design. With headphones. It wasn't pretty or nice at all. I did, however, get to bed early last night, and was much more well-rested this morning--it's pretty incredible what an extra hour of sleep will do for you. Too bad I took a nap this afternoon, because otherwise I'd try it again.
We saved at least $55,000 today--I know we're generally thrifty, but that's a pretty significantly noteworthy savings in one evening, nonetheless! I was looking through the local Sunday paper (much bigger than the Morehead News, but probably less in the way of quality.. just in case you were wondering. Not that the Morehead paper is likely to win any journalistic awards either, but they tend to spell words correctly in headlines, at least.) Anyway, there was a full-page ad for a realty company, with photos of houses, and I fell in love wiith one of them at first sight. M was captivated by it too, just as I knew he would be. The price was suspiciously low, though, and the ad said it needed some TLC but had a nice river view--those are three pretty good warning signs right there. We weren't doing anything, so we went to look at it, and.. well, we're not going to be buying it, no matter how cute it is. Saggy roof and general neglect, but it's absolutely adorable. However, the nice view of the river.. well. Yes. Also, a potentially nice, close-up view of the river during floods. But the neighborhood was the worst part. Not the nicest part of town, by any means, and we would like to be just outside of town, rather than in it. So.. rather than being depressed about finding an unsuitable house that's almost perfect for us (at least in appearance!) I'll just be happy that we saved so much money today. It all works out--besides, we'd rather live here. . .
I've got to stop watching virtual house tours and get myself to bed!
