You know the state of insurance is in the pits when you get an email that is clearly and undoubtedly spam, and you open it anyway because the sender is "affordable health" and the subject is "Health Benefits". Yes, that's me; an employee of the state. The only way to make having insurance profitable is to start popping out babies. I could cover twelve kids for about a third of the cost of covering M and me. And, of course, I could cover just me for less than a tenth of that price. It's insane.

There was Drama this morning; M and I left the house to go family-visiting, with the main event of the day being Elizabeth's baby shower. I called my mom to ask what time it was--but guess what? They had rescheduled it for Tuesday (yeah, have fun with that as I am not taking the afternoon off for this, especially now) and didn't think I warranted a phone call. I don't know why I was even surprised because they're always doing that. It really really aggravates me. Speaking of Elizabeth, though, she's still very cute, and I just realized today that they're spelling her middle name "Rayne" instead of "Raine" and why didn't I know that? Of course, I didn't find out until I was handed, as an afterthought, the invitation to the shower on Tuesday. They tend to handle things so badly. Normally I try not to write negative things about my family in a public post, but in cases like this, I guess I figure that writing about it here is much better than saying exactly what I think to them, and if they happen to read it, then.. well, someone should tell them that it's bad manners to read the blog of someone you know without telling them.

In other news, M had both today and tomorrow off, and so we're spending a weekend together for the first time in a month and a half or something. It's very very nice, although we can't exactly decide what to do tomorrow. We've had ambitious ideas about going to Cincinnati or Louisville or something, but I have this feeling that we'll end up hanging around the house, which also sounds nice. We went shopping last night (for the baby's presents) in Lexington, and stopped in at Barnes & Noble after we ate.. and ran into Jenny and Andy unexpectly, which was nice. We lingered in the crafting book aisle for over an hour before we followed them back to their house for a game of Rook and a gallon, or so it seems, of hot tea.. so that was a fun evening.

I really need a sentence or so that will just tie this all together, but I find myself looking for an excuse to go to bed instead of thinking of what to write, so instead I'm just going to request that you all please pretend that this was a fascinating conclusion to a fun-filled and exciting post. You could even pretend, if you want, that it was the rug that tied the room together, if you're a Lebowski fan. Meanwhile, though, I'll just be here falling asleep in my chair, and we'll all be happy.
