We're leaving in about an hour to go to the fancy-schmancy dinner at Spindletop with the Scandinavian Heritage Society people. This is the second year we've gone, and I think I'll always have mixed feelings about it. I just don't like paying $20 each to have my meal picked out for me. This year it's pork-related, too, and I'm just not a fan. Except for the very rare barbeque indulgence, I can honestly not remember the last time I went out to eat and ordered pork of any sort. Last year, the food was decent but not special. You're so paying for the whole eating-at-a-mansion thing. Of course, last year we tried to crash someone's wedding reception before we figured out that we were in the wrong place. I think we'll try to avoid that this year.

My daddy's 49th birthday is tomorrow, too, and I'm letting him think that we're not coming up to visit because it's not our Sunday. Is that mean? We were planning on just showing up tomorrow at my grandfather's house, but we reorganized the schedule tonight and decided to head to Morehead after the dinner. He likes it when we spend the night, so I think he'll be pretty happy with us when we pull in out of the blue. I did tell my Mom the plan so she would be expecting us.
